Obviously a very popular pub/restaurant. Always busy when I visit so must be a popular place. Beer good and decor good. To be honest though, perhaps a little too busy for me!

We had a lovely chilled afternoon on the terrace by the river. The food was great and the wine was lovely. Specials looked good too! Wild boar ❤️

Sat outside near the river and was very busy due to the glorious weather. Service was good and the staff pleasant and efficient. Did not eat as it was a Sunday and the kitchen shut at 19:00

Three of us went here for Sunday lunch. We all had the roast beef. It was lovely, but expensive at £48 (£16 each), for Sunday roasts.

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your lunch, it is Sirloin of beef that you had and of the best quality, and this is what ensures customers return time and time again. Hopefully we will see you too..

I visited with work colleagues for drinks! They have very impressive Gin menu. We had a great time trying different G nTs. My colleagues had food that they liked. I had chips that were fried in fresh vegetable oil. We all had great time.

The gins are great aren't they... I have had some fun with the infusions too. The best thing about gin is that it suits any occasion, and any weather... so today is the day then!!!! Or tomorrow......

Thank you for your review and I have to say that price is not all about the food. Its the whole package and the Bishop team are great. Then when the sun comes out it is simply the perfect venue!

Since reading your review we have completely changed our ploughman's lunch... the Artesian bread (just because it is sliced doesn't mean it isn't) is now wrapped in parchment paper to ensure it reaches you in its freshest state. and we've topped up the pickles....

Two of us plus dog stopped by for a lunch time snack and drink. We both had sandwiches and they were very good quality. Our dog was welcomed with treats and water. Nice atmosphere.

Nice, classy pub right on the river by the King Alfred statue, perfect if your going for a stroll and fancy a drink along the way - nice patio beer garden directly onto river, a fave with locals and visitors alike anytime of the year...More
