Likely because we are northerners but Heineken flat. When queried advise could not get head for a half as no sparkler in glass. Northerners can show you how to do it. Pity as lovel old pub with good entertainment. Customers view not appreciated.

The atmosphere is really cozy, friendly and welcoming! We enjoyed the historical significance as well. We order fish and chips. The food was served piping hot and with a smile. Fish and chips were very tasty. Mashed peas are something us Americans could get used to....More

I visited the Duke of Wellington with colleagues whilst working in Southampton. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I had a couple of pints of IPA and Homemade Burger with Stilton and chips. The food was extremely tasty. Well worth a visit.

Dated back to the 13th century!! this is a must see and eat in this place. So close to everything, this is a great place to stop for a brew, lunch or dinner.

We had a couple of dishes from the specials and two from the menu. All dishes were really tasty and generous portions.

I was brought here by the rave reviews of the food. Ordered lasagne, the chips were fine, the salad was undressed and plain, but the lasagne itself was poor, red hot on one side, but mostly not hot enough, ie badly microwaved. It was bland,...More

We always absolutely enjoy the Wellington! Very friendly, excellent food and great beer and wine list. Took my parents for Easter Monday evening meal and they absolutely loved the place and can’t wait to go back.

I would guess they are letting local folks know that it isn't just a tourist location. They were friendly to us and they likely realized that we were not locals.
