Whilst the food was very good, the waiting around ruined the evening. Just one woman who was ‘allowed’ to take orders and provide us with the bill. The waiter explained this was so there was no blame if anything was wrong. Had to wait for...More

We were not sure if we would visit this or The JollySailor. We made the right choice with The Ferry.

Description
This unique little restaurant boasts to be the only floating restaurant in the local area. Now settled in the Historic Elephant boatyard this chain ferry used to commute between Woolston across to Southampton town carrying cars and foot passengers. This ferry N08 was built in 1896 and was in service till 1961. In 1977 the ferries all ceased to run and now at there old location sits a toll bridge. This restaurant has been privately owned for the eleven years . There is much to offer here . The restaurant is open Wednesday through to Sunday opening for lunch and supper. Head Chef prepares and cooks only top quality dishes using all local produce and suppliers . There is a wonderful outside decking for dining alfresco overlooking the Hamble river as well as a cosy atmospheric restaurant and bar. Catering for celebration functions come high on the list here due to this charming location and the restaurant also offers the entire venue for private functions. There is also access to this restaurant via the river where customers can moor up just for the evening or overnight .Great venue for weddings and special all other special occasions .
