I'm a vegetarian so my wife phoned ahead to see what dishes were available and the restaurant went to the trouble of putting additional menu choices on for me. So when I arrived I had the option of choosing one of the existing vegetarian dishes or going "off menu" which was a really nice touch. The food was great -... More

I feel mean writing this as it's a lovely setting and atmosphere. Can't fault the service and very friendly too - there's a big but sadly.... The food ain't great. I'm not super fussy and generally pretty easy going but the portions are tiny, as in, nouvelle cuisine tiny but without the flavours. My pork was tough, my wife's rack... More

Great evening meal and choice of beers with nice wood burning stove on a cold winter evening. Ideal to eat if you are staying locally in Painswick. Staff were friendly and efficient

We ate here the night before Hogmanay. A party of seven we were all able to find something we liked from the menu. The food was fresh, well seasoned and enjoyed by all. Wine was fairly priced and service prompt and friendly. The restaurant has a modern bistro feel and is not dominated by a bar area. Good place to... More

Warm and welcoming, dog friendly. Great choice of menu for all appetites and tastes from traditional to modern. Lovely atmosphere. Ladies loo could do with a refurbishment a bit cramped and dated.

We stayed four nights at Christmas and had a very comfortable bed, a fine view over the famous churchyard and the best breakfasts ever.. The Scrambled Eggs with Smoked Salmon was a most generous helping and the staff always very pleasant.

Had lunch at the Falcon Inn today, and was served the worst fish and chips I have ever seen. The batter was completely soaked in oil, and the fish was a thin grey mush underneath. Not what I would expect for the price, very disappointing.
