A proper family run Italian restaurant , we visited by chance Friday evening , greeted with huge smiles and enthusiasm , no problem for a Tx4 despite not booking . Quick drinks service and an excellent light Italian red for a bottle of house wine . The menu is trattoria style and each dish we had tasty and freshly prepared , and plenty to satisfy even the biggest appetite . Probably the highlight of the night , apart from the Happy Birthday rendition from everyone for my wife , was the home made Tiramisu , rich in flavour with Marsala . Thanks so much and we look forward to returning regularly before long .

If you appreciate real authentic Italian food freshly cooked from placing your order this is the only family run Italian in Cirencester that offers an exceptional service, great menu selection and reasonable priced. The pizza and pasta dishes are amazing and the veal selection you cannot fault. Well worth seeking out this restaurant which is hidden from Castle Street and down an alleyway, believe me you will not be disappointed, the vibe and atmosphere in the restaurant both during the week and weekend is amazing and memorable.

This restaurant is second to none. It’s a family run business great value for money and amazing atmosphere can’t beat it. Whenever I’m in Cirencester, I always make a point to visit my favorite authentic Italian restaurant, Piazza Fontana. It’s tucked away down an alley off Castle Street, nestled next to Pizza Express and the Mad Hatter Wine Bar. Don’t be tempted by other Italian restaurants on the same street—there’s simply no comparison. Piazza Fontana surpasses the competition with its amazing, authentic Italian cuisine, warm atmosphere, and exceptionally friendly and attentive staff. The value for money is incredible, making it a must-visit. It’s highly recommended by local hotels such as De Vere in South Cerney, The Fleece, The Kings Head in the Market Place, and Stratton House Hotel. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a celebrity or two, as it’s a favorite among the well-known. The vibes are fantastic, with friendly banter that adds to the already delightful dining experience. We’ve already booked our business group’s Christmas celebration here, confident we’ll be well taken care of!

We went for lunch today - so glad we did. Tucked away down a little lane we found great Italian food and hospitality. A very tasty looking main menu and a very reasonable lunch menu left us spoilt for choice. Our server was very friendly and the service itself was very prompt. The food was superb. Three courses of yum! Thank you so much - we will return…soon!

Umm I’m not getting the many good reviews.. We arrived greeting.was not overly friendly. We sat outside and the table cloth was grease stained and looked like it hadn’t been changed in awhile. Food presentation was amateurish. My friend had the salmon and avocado which was diced avocado with a slice of salmon over the top and a ring of sliced lemons placed around it. My calamari had no salad to speak of looked like someone had run a potato peeler across a carrot a couple of times and laid the slices across a few pieces of wilted lettuce.. My pasta had 3 pieces of chicken and my friends had very little salmon. Staff became friendlier as the night wore on and we engaged but otherwise if this is ranked the 2nd best Italian restaurant Cirencester by ranking I’m surprised as. I’ve been to Le Passione and Mama Mio and both are much better. Should have gone back to them but thought I would try Piazza Fontana as something new.

Thank you for leaving your review. I am sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your time with us. I would just like to make the following points. I was in the restaurant when you were warmly greeted by a team member. They gave you the option to sit inside or out and you chose outside. 2. I find it hard to believe the tablecloth was dirty. This is because we change them after every customer. If you were unhappy with this, you could’ve brought it to our attention. 3. Starters - we have never had an issue with the salmon dish, everyone gets a standard portion. Regarding your calamari, as per the menu it does not come with a salad, only a salad garnish and dipping sauce as described. 4. Mains - regarding your chicken pasta. It is impossible to only have had 3 pieces of chicken. All our dishes have a set quantity of ingredients so all customers receive the same. This would also cover the apparent missing salmon. If you were so unhappy it would have been better to bring this to our attention. Had you done so we would of been more than happy to swap the dish and not charge. 5. Both team members asked your table more than once if everything was ok and you replied yes. Also your plates were empty. This would have been the perfect opportunity to bring anything you were unhappy about to our attention 6. Please note the other Italian restaurants in Cirencester are not our competitors. If you love them both so much it is a great shame on their part that you have not graced them with any reviews. TIP: when dining in any restaurant in the future please if you are not happy - tell us face to face. We are all human and not perfect all the time. It gives restaurants the opportunity to rectify the situation and gives you a happier experience. Unfortunately, these days people feel it’s easier just to hide behind a screen. But that’s no benefit to anybody.

We ate here following reviews from Trip Advisor and I must say the restaurant did not disappoint. We were able to get a table for our family of 4 at a good time on a Friday evening. The restaurant is truly a wonderful place, having eaten in some of the finest and authentic restaurants in Rome, it has the same vibe. The food was wonderful, my son said his carbonara was the best he’d ever tasted and our lovely server took my son (whose only 11) to the chef to tell him, this was a lovely touch. Overall I couldn’t have asked for a better place to eat during our Cotswolds trip, the food was amazing, the service was excellent and if you are in Cirencester you must visit this wonderful restaurant. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Piazza Fontana Cirencester (two visits in the first two weeks of September 2023). We were blasted by the delicious smells attracting our noses to this place, as the restaurant is not visible from the main road. We were taken back to some distant holidays’ memories as the delectable scents whetted our appetites. This alone is a sure star attraction, as we could not resist and had to follow our noses down the narrow cobbled stones allay to this hidden gem. Our first experience however was not as potent as the second one. We arrived in the early evening, and found the staff a little abrupt. Nevertheless, we could not ignore our yearning to sample what had invited our noses here, so we limited our orders to just a starter each to try the foods out. One starter was the deep fried squid and the other was the mussels, as there is a gluten issue for us. The mussels dishes won hands down over anything else. Because this dish was so memorable, we came back a second time to order the mussels for the both of us. This second time we decided to have lunch there, just about a week after our first visit. The restaurant was within an hour to close for the afternoon, and was empty save for us. This played in our favour as we had more time to acquaint ourselves with the staff who were in fact very warm and friendly. These visits have won us over to want to come back again for the same dish, as we didn’t suffer any after effects from sensitivity to certain foods. We were served by Elena who was literally catering to our every desire. We asked for the mussels in white wine, herbs, tomato and garlic sauce. Like the last time, we requested the butter spinach which is becoming fast a rare vegetable since most restaurants are cutting back on veggies because of overheads. We also asked for a side dish of well done fries and they arrived crisp and golden to our delight and satisfaction which our palates had great pleasure in tasting (no limp white potatoes in sight drowning in salt and rancid oil). As we could not afford to go to Italy, this little gem hidden in Cirencester was the salve to our hearts and taste buds, with the help of Elena who introduced us to the very generous serving of home made genuine Italian pistachio flavour gelato, accompanied with the little something to pour over the gelato that brought an explosion of taste - Limoncello. If you don’t particularly want to eat pizza (I am told the dough is made freshly by the chef - if we were not gluten concerned we would have tried the pizzas), nor pasta, but love the taste of real tomato/garlic/wine sauce, let your noses take you down this very exclusive culinary journey down to Italy, hidden in Cirencester. Thank you Elena for everything!

Customer Service: Exceptional! The staff at Piazza Fontana truly excel in the art of hospitality. Despite the restaurant being busy, they remained attentive and dedicated to ensuring every guest felt welcome. Our family meal was made all the more enjoyable by their friendly and efficient service. Kudos to the hardworking team! Helaine: A Gem Among Gems And then there was Helaine. Her passion for good food and genuine care for guests made us feel like cherished friends. Helaine, you’re an absolute gem! Culinary Delights Now, let’s talk about the food. Piazza Fontana delivers on its promise of authentic Italian flavors. We savored vegetable pizza, spaghetti carbonara, and lasagna—all bursting with taste and made with love. The menu is varied, offering something for every palate. In summary, Piazza Fontana is more than a restaurant; it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating with loved ones or simply craving a taste of Italy, this family-run gem won’t disappoint. Grazie, Piazza Fontana, for a perfect evening! 🍕🍝🌼

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here yesterday. We never eat out but my husband wanted to treat me for my Birthday. We had great service with friendly and attentive, but not intrusive waiters, Ersin and Rowan. The food was delicious. We both had Funghi Crema to start, Pollo Fontana for our main, served with broccoli, carrots and saute potatoes, all cooked to perfection and for dessert, tiramisu and chocolate souffle. The presentation of each dish was very pleasing. It was very busy for a Monday night and the restaurant had a lively atmosphere. Despite being really busy, the waiters remembered I was there to celebrate my Birthday and when they brought my dessert out, it had a lit candle in and they and the guests around our table sang happy birthday to me. It was lovely and made such a special evening. We were also given a complimentary Limoncello drink. A lovely memory to keep. I highly recommend a visit to Piazza Fontana.

Fantastic friendly restaurant serving up superb food The tasty starters ( mussels, platter for two) and their unbelievable authentic pizzas and seafood risotto were all first class and served by the friendly staff. It surprises me that it is relatively quiet on the Thursday night that we went. It's next to pizza express down the alley way off Castle Street. It's well worth tracking it down.

I came back to Piazza after not visiting for a while, and I was not disappointed. I had a bolognaise as I fancied something very classic and it was in the lunch offer which was ÂŁ14.50 for two courses!! . (Sorry about the pic, I dived in without thinking lol). I love the changes that have been made!! Beautiful table lamps and lovely tables too. An absolute must visit again soon. Thank you Piazza !!

We booked a last minute stay in Cirencester and decided to try Piazza Fontana after reading the great reviews. As our trip was so short notice we hadn’t even booked, we were welcomed in despite no reservation and the staff couldn’t have done more to make us feel us at home. We found the staff to be very warm, friendly and professional. Our starters (calamari and bruschetta) and mains (lasagna and seafood pizza) were delicious - fresh, authentic, homemade Italian food. Our daughter ordered off the children’s menu and was served the most incredible pizza in both taste and size - it was enormous, but she still managed to find room for the ice cream included in the meal price - very good value. We enjoyed our meal so much we booked again two weeks later when staying in Cirencester. Our second meal was equally as delicious and we received such warm hospitality again. On both occasions we were given complimentary limoncello at the end of our meal which we thought was a lovely touch. When the owner of the restaurant heard we were celebrating two special occasions on our second visit he gave us a complimentary bottle of wine! We will definitely be dining here again, it’s just a shame we live 90 minutes away otherwise I think we’d be there every week!

Such a warm welcome from Elena and her colleagues. The food was excellent and we very much enjoyed sitting in the covered outside area. We had a baby and a dog with us and they were very accommodating and went the extra mile throughout our entire meal.

Love this restaurant! Been coming for years with my family, most recently for mine and then my mums birthday! The owner and staff are lovely, always polite and chatty. My mum and I even got sung happy birthday to! Food is lovely and fresh. My dad has severe allergies, especially with garlic, so he gets special meals that aren’t even on the menu made just for him!
