Great food from the time of the Raj. This is the third of three very different Indian Restaurants in Cheltenham, along with Prithi and Bhoomi that we have tried. The East India cafe gives you a very different experience than the run of the mill...More

As usual, the food was outstandingly good. But unusually, the service was very poor. It took a long time for the main course to arrive. And they served it on very large and thick boards, which left very little room for the plates on the...More

We absolutely love this restaurant, and hope to return soon. This restaurant is as much about the experience as it is the food. The courses are exquisitely presented and everything tastes delicious.

Tastiest Indian food I’ve tasted. Had 3 course set lunch on a Saturday lunchtime. Excellent service and great G&T’s. Forget the Ivy, this is clearly the best restaurant in Cheltenham!!

Incredible meal in a wonderful venue. I can't recommend it highly enough. Try the 7 course tasting menu with alcohol (alcohol decided for you to compliment each course.) It might have been the best meal we've ever had.

Sorry I haven’t answered your question before. The owners of this restaurant are delightful and very helpful. If you contact them beforehand I am sure they will discuss possible dishes with you. Best wishes.

Personally we prefer to choose our own dishes. The kitchen is set up for the tasting menu, so personal choices are a better test of cooking abilities. As far as I know they will flex the tasting menu.

East India Cafe was established in November 2015. We opened the restaurant with the philosophy of bringing the techniques of mum's cooking into professional setting. We started researching the era of British Raj in Colonial India and brought those recipes back to life here in Cheltenham using modern cooking methods and our own twist. Our principle is to serve tasty food with a piece of history with it. This is not just a place to take care of guests hunger but also a place to come and relax with great variety of drinks and an evening of experience. For us research and innovation is an essential part of what we do with distinct attention to detail. We passionately believe in innovation and merge science with the art of cooking.
