Popped into The Chestnut Tree for a cup of tea while visiting Bourton-on-the-Water, although I think it should have been named 'Teapots!' There were teapots everywhere of various varieties and design - on the window sill and many hanging from the ceiling. Table service, which was nice and then you just pay when you are finished. Staff seemed pleasant and... More

Food and drinks - There was a variety of food and drinks to choose from which sounded delicious, but was quite disappointed that the squash was a bit pricey even though it is just cordial and tap water. Pricing reasonable Staff - The staff were really good, came to the table to order and also quick service too which was... More

Popped in here for a light lunch during a visit to Bourton on a very wet, miserable & cold Sunday afternoon. The decor is a bit dated and not to our taste and seems to make the place darker than it really is. The service was excellent. Very prompt & lovely staff. We ordered a jacket spud and some homemade... More

Visited (with advance booking) on a cold and very busy day. We were a group of five, three adults, a four-year-old and a small baby with a lot of equipment. Staff could not have been more helpful, finding us a space with room for buggy etc. and even offering to link on another table if we did not have enough... More

Not a friendly establishment at all. Certainly not welcoming. Rather a shame. Can't really say anymore because the staff did not bother to find us seats or try to help us sort our little group of six as they were more concerned about causing obstruction for staff walking so a pram or stroller would certainly have caused uproar to their... Good service and nice food. Busy atmosphere, a nice place to get out of the cold and have a nice warm soup and a cuppa!

Bourton on the Water is such an attractive village it pulls in lots of visitors, so there are many options. For a perfect English tea the Chestnut is the ideal place. Thoughtfully decorated with a teapot theme and all you would hope for in a tea shop.

First time at the Chestnut Tree, a very friendly welcome and good service. The food was excellent, the scones were the best we have ever tasted. Attentive service throughout and extra drinks were supplied. There was so much food that what remained was boxed up for us to take away.

Visited The Chestnut Tree with hopes of a hot meal at half 4 on a Saturday afternoon, unfortunately we were told the kitchen had already closed even though they were still open for another hour. We opted for a cream tea and a plain tea. It may be my personal preference, but I found the scones very spongy and rather... More
