Don't miss this experience (they close from Oct-Mar). The grounds are beautiful, everything so relaxed, perfect for all ages-grandparents and children will love it, best of all though the cafe! Everything is home made, freshly prepared and seasonal including superb breads and the lightest, thinnest...More

Really enjoyed the Munnings house and art collection. A museum of the artist's life and work and lovely cafe. I also thought it was good value for money. Well worth a visit for art lovers.

I joined the Clacton Cycling Club on Bank Holiday Monday for a ride. I had started from Capel St Mary at 7.00am and would not normally stop this close to home, but I had ridden from Capel to Frinton Gates then onto Dedham. I was...More

Our first return since the current proprietors took over 3 years ago and it didn't disappoint at all. The service, the menu and the drinks all far surpass what you may expect from a museum cafe. I had the chicken schnitzel with a selection of...More

I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment on the August Bank Holiday. We were informed that the cyclists would arrive in 3 groups about 10 minutes apart. Each group would be seated and orders taken and served. When you came into the café to "order...More

It was a very last minute decision to visit and we could not have been made more welcome. The staff found a wheelchair accessible table that was outside but showed concern that we should have some shade. All done without flap or fuss. The food...More

The Garden Cafe Dedham, is set in the tranquil gardens of the Sir Alfred Munnings Art Museum. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesday's but open to Wednesday - Sunday, and BANK HOLIDAYS - April through October. Drop in for coffee from 10am, for lunch and cakes from 12noon to 5pm. Entry to the Museum in not a requirement of admission to the restaurant. However, we would recommend visitors visit the wonderful collection of art displayed here. The Museum DOES NOT OPEN until 2PM. The cafe serves fresh, home made, delicious cakes, seasonal and healthy, light lunches, Paddy and Scott's coffees and Pukka teas, and craft beer and cider, and small, but carefully selected wine list in the heart of the Dedham Vale. We offer free wi-fi and parking! As we have a small restaurant, and an even smaller kitchen, and prepare everything freshly, we do run out of lunch options. So it is becoming increasingly advisable to book a table.
