Visited the Plough in early December for lunch. Very nice food, atmosphere and staff. Was pleased as had booked Christmas lunch. Was not disappointed on Christmas day, the staff could not have been nicer, the food was excellent. We found out that morning that half our table would missing due to sickness, we called the plough who rearranged the table... More

Have reviewed this wonderful Bistro Pub before but had such a fantastic meal on Christmas Day really couldn't let things go without reviewing again. Booked a family meal for four of us and from the initial booking everything was handled in such a professional and friendly manner. Fantastic choice of food which was selected before the day and although we... More

Always a risk going out for Christmas dinner. Not here. Booking process friendly and personal. Superb food, excellent service and wonderful atmosphere. Book early for 2017 to avoid huge disappointment.

A superb lunch for six of us. The best game terrine I have ever had. Delicious stuffings, moist turkey. Apparently the beef Wellington was amazing too. Thank you The Plough. See you soon

Due to the fact that we run a business ourselves and usually work on Christmas Eve, we are usually eating out on Christmas Day and appreciated those who work, so we don't need to. From all the places we have tried in and around Rye, the Plough won our hearts this Christmas! Service was warm and friendly, what a great... More

We live 20 minutes' drive from this pub but have never visited before. We decided to give it a try on Christmas day of all days, but the gamble paid off. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and offered drinks before taking our table. The table was nicely decorated without being overly fussy. We were asked if we wanted... More

We had to return to this wonderful pub for our Xmas lunch after the fantastic menu last year. The beef Wellington was a superb alternative to turkey as as expected everything cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was jolly and lively, just right for Xmas day. The staff were friendly and worked well together during such a busy time. We' ll... More

Description
The Plough is a quintessential English country pub with stunning views from our pond side garden over the Brede Valley with the sea as a backdrop. Situated on the Kent and East Sussex border and less than two miles from the medieval town of Rye, we enjoy a fantastic larder of local produce, from the freshest of fish landed in Rye and Hastings every day, to the wonderful delights from the Romney Marsh such as lamb and beef as well as the best of seasonal vegetables. With all this on our doorstep, we offer a good choice of local beers, ciders, wines and freshly prepared food, from our tapas, to our original choice of freshly prepared dishes and our homemade ice creams.
