We needed a place to sit down on a rainy afternoon and a drink after a long journey, somewhere that would let us in with our dog. This was the first place we came across. It was lovely. Although it was busy, the staff were...More

Hi Edward, Unfortunately, like a lot of pubs in Brighton, we have a policy that doesn't allow groups of 5 or more (of the same sex), especially during busy weekend evenings. We are sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused you, and hope you...More

Wouldn't let a group of five of us in on Saturday evening. Apparently standard policy. Very poor. If you're in a large group perhaps stagger entry to have a chance of entry.More

Hi John, unfortunately it is standard policy in a lot of pubs in Brighton, because of how busy the town gets during weekend evenings. We tend to reach our capacity on Saturdays, and our main priority is to make sure everyone is safe and having...More

Very tasty pub food. The service is good and really nice. A food order that was misunderstood was easily managed with happy faces. Very kind and understanding about everything.

My partner and I enjoyed or visit to the Black Lion. The music was good, but unfortunately when the volume went up, so did the volume of the punters, good natured as they were.

We didn't eat but, the mains and desserts looked very good. The drinks seemed a bit expensive. A large gin and tonic and a Heineken cost £14.

Description
Here at The Black Lion, we aim to be the best at everything we do... And we do a lot!! From a fantastic restaurant serving fresh food 7 days a week, including roasts every Sunday, to a consistently busy late night bar... And everything in between... The Black Lion is all about live music, 6 days a week. Up-and-coming local bands, live and authentic Blues, Jazz Sundays playing gypsy jazz, swing blues soul and funk for a lively end to the week, Brighton's most popular Funk and Soul bands and DJs that will keep you dancing until 3am, We've got the lot! ... It's a fairly eclectic blend, but we find it attracts lots of the right kind of people. Don't forget 2 for £12 cocktails on Tuesdays, choose from our extensive list made from quality, fresh ingredients, and the best Bloody Marys in town, you'll find something for every taste. Perfect for any weather, our beer garden is the best place to spend sunny afternoons, or stay cosy inside on winter evenings.
