We have been going to plateau for a good few years now, sometimes just popping in for a few drinks and a snack, and other time gorging on the majority of their mind blowing menu. The service received is totally unrivalled, it's personalised, incredibly professional, yet fun. They are so knowledgable about each dish and it's produce, that you are... More

Went to plateau for first time and really impressed. Went for set menu and food was excellent. Service good too! Cannot believe quality of food for 3 courses for £20. really enjoyed it and wine was lovely as well. Will definitely go back.

To be honest,I dont understand so high ranking of this place. The food was not tasty at all. The glasses were dirty. Very aged interior. And the price is 20£ for 3 course meal. There are a lot of fine restaraunts where you can have your lunch for that sum! Did not enjoy at all.

First time we went here we were blown away, second time was sadly the reverse, awful music instead of chilled tunes, slow service instead of excellent and no more 3 meat sharing platter plus massively disappointing and seriously overpriced starters/light bites (avoid). We were really looking forward to our return visit but wish we hadn't bothered and won't be back... More

We went there for a post show dinner - enjoyed the menu thoroughly but the music was a complete nightmare. Loud eclectic stuff one only enjoy if one is in a mood for it. Not sure I'll go back unless I bring my earplugs. Call me an old fart if it helps.

Thanks to the owner at Guest and the City B & B we got a late booking on Valentines night. It was super busy. Not for a moment did that prevent the service being attentive, hugely knowledgeable of their offering and fun. This place is ALL about fresh food, superb combinations of flavour and A La Point cooking. The menu is... More

We had a lovely evening in the little bar, they were very friendly and the food + wine were amazing! I highly recommend the beetroot risotto!

Lovely restaurant, bar, welcoming, interesting environment and decor, ok service, certainly not hurried. Varied menu not cheap, wine interesting but also not cheap. The steak was very good indeed well worth the wait. Poached pear could have been a little softer, difficult to eat with just a tea spoon. Cheese excellent, rhubarb crumple and ice creams 1 st class.

I Had a wonderful evening having dinner with friends last night, we all ate the braised ox cheek and it was melt in the mouth tasty stuff. Finished with a gorgeous cocktail- perfect evening!

Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
