Had a good dinner at this staple French Bistro outlet right in the centre of Brighton. Have eaten here once, and had pre-dinner wine on many occasions. The dinner this time was unpretentious and of excellent quality. Fresh oysters, a great platter of pork belly,...More

Shocking bad service very rude manager guy (red hair ) .. The food is seriously over rated and over priced for sure . You may as well eat cardboard it would taste far better .. The venue is too small and cramped to be able...More

Plateau in Brighton is the perfect place to have an informal yet delicious food experience. All plates are made from fresh ingredients rightly cooked. Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions from the menu that met our food preferences. They keep a comprehensive wine list...More

Heard of the place from friends since the past years, we decided to give it a try with a group of work colleagues. The restaurant is on 2 floors, cosy and relaxed. The menu was extensive and wine and beer selections were very good. Service...More

I went today and had the set menu. The food is fresh and great value. The staff are very friendly. If you love a good wine selection this is the place to go!

Visited Plateau over the bank holiday weekend in May. Enjoyed the food - we had the meat platter option which had some interesting variety. Vert extensive drinks menu as you would expect! Service friendly and good value for money

Nice food in a cosy restaurant. There is a concise menu with French dishes. Staff has French roots as well and is very friendly. Book ahead.

We had high hopes after reading all the good reviews but left feeling disappointed. It was a busy Friday night and the music was at almost club volume which set me on edge from the start. We ordered a red wine that was unnecessarily decanted...More

I’m going to write this as a review of two restaurants recently visited. Both great meals, but contrasting experiences. And at least in part I felt that was down to the location. I had been meaning for a while to try Plateau in the Lanes...More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
