Went in for cocktails. Went to sit at a two person table and got asked to sit at a table set for 5. Didn't question it after one drink got asked to move as they people who had reserved it arrived. We was not advised...More

I wouldn’t usually go to somewhere marketing itself as a wine bar, as you would assume the food is a second priority, however this place was so much better than we expected. The duck large plate was exceptional - really smoky and tender. The two...More

I've just spent over £100 for 2 people and I'm still hungry. I used to love this restaurant but it is now it is over priced, too loud and serves mediocre food. It wasn't too bad (just a lot of money for small servings of...More

Eating here is like a petit sojourn in Paris, from the lovely looped chalked menu to the elegant staff and the choice of meat-based French inspired dishes. The wine list offers some interesting and unusual choices, most reasonably priced. The staff are great at making...More

Popped in here for a late lunch on Saturday having booked a few days earlier on a recommendation. It was very busy on arrival and had a real buzz and had a feel of a Paris bistro about it. The food changes daily but there...More

The service is excellent and the staff know their products and can advise you. The food and the wine on offer is different but delicious. Well worth a visit.

Having decided to visit we were surprised by the fantastic food on offer. The manager was excellent and helped us with the wine as they serve alternative mineral wines which were a little odd. We did get a good bottle and the food was delicious....More

Wandered into this place by chance. Menu was great and varied, had their lunch offer and didn't regret it. Well worth popping in

The winning combo for me is the tasteful, cosy, romantic but unassuming decor, relaxed ambiance and consistently good food. Great for a romantic dinner, a catch up with a friend or a business meeting. I've been coming here for years now and the food is...More

Great meal, great vibe. Nice quirky little restaurant, food was great. Only negative was the table was very small so a little cramped.

Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
