This became my favourite pub in Dartmouth after the Cherub started to serve rubbish Cider. The Cherub has returned to No 1, but now only in joint first with the Dolphin. It’s a great pub, the sort of pub that overseas visitors will see as...More

One of our many visits to the Dolphin this week. I had fish and chips and my wife had bouillabaisse which was delicious as were the fish croquettes that were served with it. Nice atmosphere and good music. Suited us nicely.

Four of us visited this great little pub one afternoon after a very disappointing local one the evening before. All our meals were excellent and very good valve for money and well presented. Their Otter Beer went down well.

Hi Barry Sorry you felt the need to lie about your recent experience at the pub. If only there a 'Tourist Advisor' because you mate would be getting one star! I have worked in pubs for many years, dealing with every type of person with a range of attitudes. Yours was one of disdain. You grumpily picked up your drink and in a manner I can only describe as that of a petulant adolescent, barked "Err, plastic glasses??" To which I replied, in a similar manner as to mirror your unacceptable tone "Err, it's regatta" Yes, I did get the manager, because I was honestly far too tired to deal with your pathetic grumblings. We have all been working our butts off all summer, so the last thing we needed was some stuck-up prat on his ivory tower, complaining about the fact he had to drink out of a plastic cup. I suggest you pick up a paper or turn on the news, and have a look at what you really should be complaining about. If you thought you were going to get a gushing apology for the way you were dealt with, think again. You were rude and obnoxious, and hopefully this experience will teach you that you won't get by speaking to people in such a rude manner and maybe even make you a little more resilient.

Your reply says it all. Your tone just substantiates your arrogance . You run a pub and should accord a civil manner with customers who are not familiar with a regatta week procedure . Suggest that you and your staff attend... More

THE DOLPHIN Inn is quickly emerging as the place to be !. Situated on Market Street, Dartmouth, the new Dolphin has an increased light, airy and welcoming interior, following a detailed and carefully planned renovation. Open from 11am to 11pm, Monday to Sunday, the business remains family-run with The warmest of welcomes for locals and tourists alike. Brother-in-laws John Jones and Glenn Powell have taken great lengths to ensure that the Inn has retained the classic features of a seaside pub, but one that is laid back and chilled in the services it offer to fit a wide-range of tastes. Sections of plush leather seating add a new sophisticated look to parts of this treasured and lovingly restored pub. With Manager John Pope – aka Geoffrey Boycott – using his great persuasive skills local boatbuilders and salvage masters have donated time and pieces in an attempt to bring some real local history to the pub – big thanks to all . As part of their ongoing push for higher standards, the pub owners have brought in a range of drinks, coinciding with the launch of a their very own brewed beer called Whaler Ale, brewed at their brewery – Bridgetown Brewery – situated on the river in the sister pub the Albert inn in Totnes.
