Squid starter was really good, well cooked crispy squid with Asian slaw and lime honey dipping sauce. I went for the “special” monkfish curry £25, I wasn’t impressed, pretty bland and uninspiring, nothing wrong as such, fish was cooked well, it just disappointed. Same can...be said for the fish linguine, it was ok, just not very special for £18. An expensive disappointment!More

Worth every penny. Haven’t been to this restaurant since it changed hands a few years ago, and due to disappointing experiences at Caffe Pasta decided to give it a go. We’ll be regulars after this visit. Kids shared Mussels to start and had grilled fish...and potatoes for mains, which I thought was refreshing to see something other than yellow poor quality food normally on offer for children. Good selection of wine, food was exceptional quality and fantastic portion sizes. Seafood linguine was nicely cooked and full of flavour. Overall would much rather spend a bit more for excellent quality and have a lovely experience. £120 for family of 4, had starters but no puddings and a bottle of wine. Definitely returning!More

Generally nice place to eat with good views over the harbour but not very flexible. One of our party doesn’t eat sea food and asked for a piece of white fish with a non seafood sauce. This was initially refused. There was nothing else suitable...on the menu so we asked again for the white fish with a butter sauce which they did and she was very happy with the meal. However they made us feel uncomfortable. I also didn’t particularly like the seafood curry special which was deconstructed and rather plain.More

I have to say that the banana cinder toffee deconstructed banoffee is one of the most delicious puddings ever. The cod with herb gnocchi and crab is also very very good. I was travelling solo and was made to feel very welcome. The table seating...meant that I faced the sea which was lovely. I didn’t know the wine so was given three sample glasses - very kind! Overall a great experience. I’ll definitely return. Thankyou!More

Such a laid back and cool place overlooking the harbour. The service was so relaxed, the ambience just right and food spot on. Special thank you to Alex and Lucy who handled a busy lunch time so well.

First night of our holiday and we had a reservation for dinner. Over the years have dined in most of the St Ives restaurants but this was our first visit to the Porthminster Kitchen. We started off with a couple of cocktails, a Negroni and...a Margarita whilst we looked at the menu. Shared Calamari with a Thai Salad, excellent then I had the Seafood Linguine and my husband had the Cornish Sole which was a whole fish and absolutely delicious. We had a bottle of Muscadet and at the end of the evening we were extremely satisfied with our first visit to this restaurant. Next time we will try for a lunchtime reservation, the views must be amazing.More

We had a lovely 3 course lunch, every course was lovely, could not fault anything. Everything was just that little bit different which made this meal of the week.

Lovely meal with a view of the harbour. Great portion sizes too. There was a leak onto our table from the flats above (not the restaurant’s fault at all), and all the staff were so quick to act, making it safe and making sure we...were okay too, while still looking after all the other tables. Top notch staffing.More

From the warm hospitable welcome to the personal farewell from front of house, my birthday lunch was utterly sublime. I had the restaurant’s gin cocktail which proved most refreshing; followed by scallops in hazelnut butter - truly delicious moist perfectly cooked seafood. I completed my...delicious lunch with the catch of the day - sea bass with lightly cooked Mediterranean salad with a fresh basil dressing. My lunch could not have been bettered. I enjoyed every mouthful and every minute of the lunch which was taken on the balcony overlooking St Ives harbour in glorious sunshine. I am not at all surprised how fully booked is the restaurant. I was thrilled to be able to secure a table for lunch. This restaurant is a true gastronomic gem. It was worth battling with the petrol crisis to drive 389 miles for my birthday holiday in this area of South West Cornwall to add this perfect repast to my memory bank of 7 decades of birthday memories.More

No they are different restaurants but they might be under the same management. One is in St Ives and is more informal, the other is a short walk outside the centre of St Ives and is right on the beach. They are both very... More

I don’t think it’s that kind of place, lots of seafood - lovely food though.
