This restaurant has a lovely interior and a beautiful gardens. The chips were great however, the chips, ham and egg disappointed. The ham was cold cooked ham which I never expected on a dish like this. It was 'OK' however, with the price we paid I would have expected something better. The veggie dish was excellent. Unfortunately, this didn't quite... More

Stumbled across this gem one late afternoon. Unfortunately there were no scones as they are always made fresh so we both had carrot cake instead- my word! Delicious! And we could have shared it, it was so big. Sat outside in the little sun trap of a terrace, and chatted to the lovely Kristina who runs it. We decided to... More

These walled gardens have been renowned for more than a century. The mild micro-climate allows the growing a wide range of plants that could be problematic in Britain. The roses in particular are spectacular over a long flowering periods. But there are major herbaceous beds with the walls covered in clematises and some tree geraniums. For anyone visiting Sark the... More

My wife and I first visited for an impromptu lunch - we were so impressed we return a couple of days later for diner. First to lunch, we both had a light lunch washed down by a couple of beers. Sat outside, enjoying the glorious sun shine and the friendly chat with Christina - finished off by a lovely walk... More

While visiting Sark recently we had an evening meal at this most interesting restaurant. A varied menu with good food in an impressive building. £20,00 each for a 3 course meal is amazing value for money. No wonder it was full. Booking essential. Highly recommended.

During our recent three night stay on Sark we had a lovely three course meal at Hathaways. The meal was very good value at £20.00 per person for three courses. For our main courses my wife chose fish &chips and I chose rib-eye steak. Both of our choices were delicious. We found the drink prices reasonable and the staff really... More

We had a very good lunch at this restaurant which is in a lovely setting in the Seignerie gardens. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful old barn and the service is very friendly and helpful. The home made bread was delicious; my one criticism is that the chips which were supposed to be triple cooked were a bit on... More

We had lunch, morning coffee and one evening meal at Hathaways, the lunch was good, the lobster nice, the coffee fine but the evening meal our two young people went on their own and had a different waitress not the normal lady in black who served us the rest of the time, this other waitress was frankly awful, they waited... During our holiday on Sark we ate twice at Hathaways and both times had a wonderful meal. Their £20 3 course menu was excellent value and a good selection all round. The Turf and Surf (specials board) was also very nice with the steaks cooked to perfection. All the staff were friendly and very helpful and the whole place had... More

On the 7th of July 2009 their Royal Highnesses Prince Edward and Sophie Countess of Wessex opened Hathaways, our cafe and restaurant. Named after Dame Sibyl Hathaway, the current Seigneur's Grandmother, the 16th century building itself is thought to have been the main house on La Rade tenement. Seigneur WT Collings converted it into a carriage house, hence the Victorian brick pillars, and in more recent times it was used as a milking parlour and stable until diary operations ceased on the farm in the 1990s. Lobster lunchThe renovation took over a year and a half and has been carefully undertaken to keep many of the original features. As much of the fresh produce as possible served at Hathaways is sourced from the Seigneurie Gardens; salads, herbs, fresh fruit and vegetables in season. Other local produce such as Sark lamb, crab, lobster and hand-dived scallops also feature on our menus which are based on traditional English cuisine.
