Not been here before. Dropped in spontaneously on a Monday evening and enjoyed a cracking meal ( home made pie with gravy to die for and my wife had home made Quiche). Landlord and Landlady very friendly and welcoming and will certainly return and recommend...More

Just enjoyed a wonderful meal at this cosy pub. We were made to feel very welcome here, with friendly chat and perfect service. The food was very good, but a special mention goes out to the wide selection of local sausages and different types of...More

I agree that this is an iconic country pub in an unspoilt village. We visited on a quiet midweek evening. On arrival we were assigned a reserved table nearby where a small child was playing with toys on the floor and continued to do so...More

Thank you for your review, I always like to reply to reviews as I always appreciate it when people take time to critic our business. I was not on duty on the evening you visited The Elsworth Poacher, but I have spoken to Charlotte my...More

This is a gorgeous thatched pub in the Cambridgeshire countryside but within a few minutes of main routes. I was staying nearby for work and just wanted something traditional and welcoming. Straightforward but well prepared food, a good ale or two on tap and what...More

Went on a quiet, warm Tuesday evening. Nice, fairly small, pub/restaurant, with a lovely outside area to sit. Comfortable chairs/tables and not too close together. We ordered mains only, with plenty of side dish options (I ordered sausage and mash, with 3 different types of...More

Visiting from Bucks with some friends in Cambridge I experienced today both great food and drink and service of the highest standard. My friends took me to a small village about 10 miles from Cambridge to this classic tudor styled pub where we were greeted...More

Bar lunch was basically OK, but is that really good enough? No. Beer choice limited, just 2 ales. Ploughman's was a lot of pickles, rather flabby bread and a strange Stilton, mushroom & ale pate in a wee jar, that was also sharp - so...More

Thank you for your review and I am sorry you were not overly happy with your lunch here. We do only have two ales on and a hand pull cider at The Poacher as that is right for our business. We have Doom Bar on...More

We found this lovely old pub via Trip Advisor. We had a delicious lunch here. The best Eton Mess ever. Very friendly owners who keep the pub looking great. Well worth a visit.

My wife and I stopped off for lunch to break a journey. A lovely old pub with a good value menu, pleasant service and a shady spot for alfresco dining on a perfect summer's day. Chatting with the landlord, he is obviously proud of what...More

Wonderful garden menu now supplements the main menu. Very flexible service and always fits us in (we're regulars). Highlights for us are chilli chicken, whitebait, half chicken, any burger (really good) and the latest addition - the hot dog with baconnaise! We're foodies so happy...More
