We went there in a group. Manager Nathan and staff were friendly and accomodated us as a large group. Not rough or noisy. Happy to let us taste to decide on beers. Really cosy.

Deary me, Pickerel Inn, deary me. I am a long time patron and have enjoyed many a beer and meal here before. Unfortunately, my visits are likely to stop after a recent encounter which was poor poor poor. Is it the Greene King influence? Was...it just a one-off? Either way, I have to say it’s incumbent on your staff to provide quality food and exactly what it says on the menu. Let me explain about our experience. We were seated at a table and provided with paper menus which have a terrific range and variety. We both opted for the Meatless Farm burger which is vegan, and comes with a vegan burger bun and rosemary salted chips. The fries were a key part of the reason we ordered – salted chips of that quality have to be good (you’d think)! After being told to order via the Greene King app, we came to discover literally next to no options were available! The burger apparently wasn’t available, and even our second choice – a mushroom pie – wasn’t! Tip: don’t order using the app. Ask to go direct with the bar and create a tab. The meals are available and it’s a complete hassle to faff around trying to uncover which meals are available and which aren’t with the staff. After a lot of bumbling around telling us one thing and then another, we finally got around to ordering. But the buns weren’t vegan! We were told whilst the burger suddenly was available, the vegan buns were not. So basically, there’s a vegan option that isn’t completely vegan. Brilliant! We had to settle for a vegetarian bun and were presented with the burgers (in the attached photograph). Wow. How disappointing. Does the Pickerel Inn know the burger game and the heights it operates at? This shallow, tame and arguably insipid burger costs almost 11 GBP and is a true let down. The fries were crispy and well overdone, and completely unseasoned. Zero rosemary salt. The burger also did not come with onion rings as we were promised. Brought out separately, they were soggy and soft. Don’t even bother. A small pot of rosemary salt was brought out to the chime of “here’s some more rosemary salt for you”. The key word there is ‘more’. There wasn’t an ounce to begin with! Plain jane fries, sorry looking and unappealing. Shocking presentation and delivery. Meagre coleslaw looking two-days old too. Goodness, Pickerell. Can you tell me that plate looks attractive? I had my first legal beer at The Pickerel Inn. It’s typically a warm, cosy and traditional pub with a solid reputation high and tendency to deliver a positive experience. Unfortunately, the mechanics of this visit was skewed beyond belief. Very few options on their menu; inefficient table service and flat low level burgers. The only thing keeping this review from being one star is the well-poured, silky smooth Guinness accompanying the cheerless and lacklustre plate of food.More

In the title i mention little as that's what it feels like when you walk in. From first impressions its like a nice little country pub. But its actually bigger than you might first realise with another larger room further down and a large outdoor...seating area too. We were given a very warm welcoming upon entering the pub and made to feel very at home which was very nice. We only stayed for drinks but i will definitely be going back hopefully sooner rather than later. The toilets were a bit of a nightmare. They were doing a 1 person only system in the toilets at once with a vacant/occupied sign outside the toilets you had to change when you went in/left. However every time i went to check it, it was occupied and i wonder if people were just not changing it back to vacant once they had finished. In the end i just ended up having to hold it and went to the toilet in the next pub we visited. On the first time i tried as well the one way system directed me out onto the street rather than back to my seat which was pretty funny.More

Walked into The Pickerel on a rainy, chilly and grey day looking for a fish and chip pub lunch. We had a very warm welcome, COVID procedures were efficiently (but rigorously) handled and we were soon shown to our table. Our server Daniel, was attentive,...informative and friendly. This pub has a nice traditional atmosphere with lots of cosy spaces and corners to sit and warm up after the rain. A good range of real ales and drinks. Our drinks arrived promptly and after a reasonably interval so did three plates of excellent fish and chips. Well done to all the staff for making us feel so welcome.More

We are a group of friends that have been meeting in outside locations to ensure we are Covid safe. As the weather is cooler we have found the Pickerel Inn has outdoor seating, we are shielded from the rain and heaters are available when it...gets colder. We are welcomed by the staff and management who are extremely friendly. Our drinks are served with a smile and a dose of good humour. Thank you.More

Their garden is really nice and cosy for a pint with friends. Other than that, don't think I would go there for snacks or food. Tried their nachos, fish and chips, beef and chicken burgers. Not very tasty. Also very small portions.
