I'm reluctant to waste time on this review, I want to make them feel as valued as we felt during our visit, therefore it only requires three words....dirty, overrated, unwelcoming

20 years ago i used to visit this pub regularly as i lived just a few miles away. So 20 years later and now living in Ireland, i return to find that thank goodness the pub is stuck in a time warp! everything was the...More

This is one of my favourite places in the UK, and I'm not kidding. I've never spent much time in 'the other half' of the pub, as I purposefully hang a left after the threshold, glance about for a spare chair and say 'a pint...More

As a CAMRA member, I feel obliged to say that this a great traditional pub. You don't often find pubs with gravity feed barrels any more. The soup is good and filling, but there's not much choice, apart from sandwiches and baked potatoes (which were...More

Food choices are limited but good. The soup is fantastic and the bread it's served with is the stuff of dreams. Pub is sweet (although not necessarily in a beautiful way) and the open fire was great.

Unchanged in decades, the sandwiches they serve for lunch could easily be made so much better. If you buy soup it comes with delicious granary loaf bread, but if you get sandwiches or a platter they are made with horrible Hovis-like cheapo stuff. A real...More
