Thali café has always been a home banker for dining in Bristol. Cool surroundings, friendly staff and delicious food. For a relaxed laid-back environment for good Indian food there's not much to beat it.

Came back as we needed to be in Bristol again. In fact we didn't really, but drove all the way to Bristol in large part because we wanted to try another Thali :). Excellent again. Had a couple of meat curries this time. The chicken tandoori was very different from the usual. Different spices which was lovely. Perhaps a little... More

We visited here by chance as our original intended destination was closed for refurbishment, drawn in by the delicious aromas and recommendation of the friends we were with. The cafe doesn't offer your typical korma or tikka masala but what felt like (although never having been to India I am guessing!) a more authentic Indian dining experience. Each dish was... More

I give the food a 10, really nice fish curry with a lot of flavour to it. Varied palette options, very impressed also that they catered to vegans, my partner is vegan and he insists that we must go back! Along with the smiley service I'd highly recommend!

Are here for my husband's 40th birthday today with his family - mostly veggies so this seemed ideal. We arrived as it opened at 12:00. As we were waiting for our food the chef came through the room several times to access the store room - we all noticed that his chef outfit was caked in dirt and dried food.... More

Thank you for your feedback. We pride ourselves on good customer service, food quality and hygiene, but clearly have let you down on this occasion. I would firstly like to mention that we do hold a recognised food hygiene rating of 5 stars and are monitored regularly but I do appreciate your point in regards to the Chef's uniform and... More

The food here is the best Indian I have ever eaten out, cooked, flavoured and presented beautifully. Also a really interesting selection of Indian beers which go well with the food menu.

Went here at the weekend with a couple of friends and was pleasantly surprised! Tried the buttermilk chicken and was delicious ! It's all mildly spiced and full of flavour, with something for everyone. Nice touch with the Thali plates - I think that's right they did tell me a Thali is a tin plate.... I think, sorry if I... Thank you Alex for your lovely review! It's always nice to know when we are getting it right. You are correct, "Thali" does refer to the stainless steel dishes, but also to the way meals are eaten in India – where a selection of healthy, delicious and nutritious dishes are served together on one plate. Thanks again, hope to see... More

We enjoyed a delicious meal at the Thali Cafe in Montpelier but the service was really not good at all. The staff were surly, unfriendly, forgetful and generally made us feel that they were doing us a favour. It really is a shame because the food was excellent and could not be faulted but some staff training would not go... More

Went there with family and friends while visiting Bristol for weekend break. While the ambience is interesting and food presentation is good, food is only good in parts and leaves you with the impression that they can do much better. Starter, gol gappa, were tasteless and nothing close to what you expect. Main course wasn't too bad but can definitely... More

The food was lovely and different from your normal Curry House. The slow cooked meat melted in the mouth. Different and unusual tastes and flavours. Service was excellent. Drinks a little expensive and portion size adequate but a little light for Mr Greedy.

Famous for Thalis but you'll find classic Indian snacks, coffee and cakes on the menu too. Quirky decor, great atmosphere, free Wifi, kids welcome. Award-winning Tiffin Takeaway scheme. Equally suited for groups, families or for a romantic dinner. Contact us about hiring the whole back room for your party or celebration. This is the original Thali Cafe, located in the hub of Montpelier, it is one of four Thali Cafes in Bristol.
