Have been here several times in the last couple of months and mostly I have had a good meal, plenty of it and nicely cooked and presented, the staff are helpfull and friendly but do tend to chat a lot between themselves, sometimes in english, sometimes in their own language!! If you eat at around 7.00pm to 8.30 pm you might well... More

Would definitely recommend eating here, the service is great and the food is fantastic. We had a curry each, shared a rice more than enough for two people, one naan, onion baji and kingfisher draft beer. Great value and very, very delicious!

Really love this curry house. Always a very good and consistent standard of food. Their vegetable dhansak is the best ever and their veg side dishes are also extremely tasty. Highly recommended.

I visited the Brunel Raj last Thursday with my friend as we were a good walk away from our usual curry house and we were starving. We found the staff quite cranky when we arrived and did not feel welcomed at all, it was as though we were inconveniencing them somehow! The waiters came out every couple of minutes when... More

I went to the Brunel Raj back in March 2016 and was very impressed at the quality of the food. Each dish was delicious and flavoursome (albeit a tad over salted). So when my family came to visit at the beginning of this month I recommended us going again. What a mistake this was! Whilst the service was good (we... More

Despite the lack of booking a table they managed to squeeze three of us in. The food quality is always of a high tasty standard and the staff patient and friendly. Always happy to take the clients here when they are visiting Bristol in the heart of a great village in Clifton.

Called in for a quick meal. It was perfect... had a medium curry and rice , plus the sag alo the best I ever had. I always request a dish of natural yogurt with my Indian meal and the Brunel Raj make their own and it was perfect. My husband says it's a proper Indian restaurant, the food is great.... More

Been going here for years. Always have the lamb tika masala. It's always good. They do a large trade in sit-down and take away. There's always a queue and people coming in for TA. Very understandable as the lamb is great. The butterflied king prawn is also good.

In 1997, the four brothers opened the Brunel Raj, authentic Indian cuisine. The name of the restaurant compliments its location in Clifton Village. ‘Brunel’ came from the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was best known for the creation of the Great Western Railway, the famous SS Great Britain and the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. The second name Raj, comes from the Sanskrit work rajan, which means ruler or king. The name ‘Brunel Raj’ thus translates to ‘King Brunel’, paying tribute to Bristol’s most well known merchant, Isambard Kingdom Brunel.Since opening its doors over 10 years ago, Brunel Raj has received great publicity and praise from local press, along with a string of catering awards; including being listed in the Top UK Restaurants by Hardens in 2001 and 2003.The main restaurant seats 48 and is available for small parties subject to booking and availability. We also cater for business and private parties as well as conferences and weddings.
