Excellent quality food, good choice, generous portions. Fresh, local ingredients that shine - and they bake their own bread 🙂

Fabulous meal, awesome wine!!! A favorite that was great to revisit after a few years away. So great to find consistency in quality. We had a blast. The only downer was some rich a*#hole who berated the poor waitress all night. Apparently he spent a...“Thousand Dollars” which entitles him to be a really rude human. Anyhow, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can’t wait to get back!!!!!More

We have eaten here many times over the past years and once again have been blown away with the food and service. Bit disappointed in these COVID times to see a large table of guests causing issues with staff. From our observation they were treated...with kindness and the staff bent over backwards to accomodate all requests. A particularly obnoxious male chose to announce loudly on his departure “I just spent a thousand dollars to be treated like that” … No need to speak to staff so rudely. Makes you think he’s compensating for something. The staff are young, and some clearly new to working here. But they’re training and guidance is showing. Professional without stuffiness.More

Amazing food, amazing service and an amazing vibe! Did a girls trip down to Thredbo and was told to come here for a long lunch. My goodness it was amazing! We were blown away with the food. We shared some entrees to start and loved...everything our fav were the witlof, salmon, and house pate. I had the trout for main and it was delicious! The wine list was great as well, amazing selection and variety! Jodie and her team were amazing and looked after us very well. We will definitely be back!More

To the owner (Jodie), If you only knew how you made us feel tonight. You came to our table, no eye contact, with a tired and angry demeanour... huffing under your breath as a group came in “oh here they come”.. we overheard your lovely...young male waiter say “be happy” to another angry frustrated female waitress. Whatever the problem may have been, there is no excuse to take out your frustrations on your customers. You asked me what I’d like to drink, and didn’t even acknowledge my wife.. and walked away. I had to call you back to ask you for a drink for her?! We cannot believe the service from yourself and the other younger blonde female staffer. The young male kept his calm amongst the both of you. Poor man. Being a food writer, I will be informing all my colleagues of this awful experience. From a food perspective, the menu was diverse but what we ate was rather dull. Bone marrow was succulent but didn’t pair well with burnt bread. The price did not reflect the quality. Another point to mention for anyone being a non local, you are not part of ‘the in crowd’... we noticed the owner being rather affectionate and welcoming with people she knew, and rather rude and abrasive to all the rest. We would like to say we enjoyed our time, but we cannot. We hope our words help you realise the impact of your actions. If you don’t enjoy serving customers, just invite your friends over for tea. Simple.More

Having been gifted a ‘dinner, bed and breakfast experience at Crackenback Farm’ as a retirement present, I could not have imagined a better gift. Having to choose dinner for just one night would have been torture. The food is that good. There is so much...to do with the Snowy Mountains at your fingertips. We only had two days but still took in Kosciuszko to Tom Groggin. A wonderful experience. Thank you Jodie and team!!More

I found Crackenback Farm Restaurant to have both many good and not so good points. The restaurant itself is a warm, rustic space very reminiscent of a farmhouse. The food was a good example of farm to table fare. Every dish was perfectly cooked, delicious...and well presented. Service was what I found to be a big disappointment. Rudderless ship is the phrase that comes to mind. The problem on the night we dined may have been that there was a large group celebrating a birthday that were occupying over half the space that staff seemed to be giving 90% of their attention to. It took around 5 minutes to be seated on arrival and then only when we managed to get the attention of waitstaff. Once seated we were overwhelmed with a nasty smell much like that of a dirty old tea towel, which we quickly found to be our napkins. Not wanting to make a scene we ended up balancing them on the end of our knees to keep them as far from our noses as possible for the evening. Due to their very dark colour I can’t say for certain that the napkins were unclean but the odour was not subtle. As the menu make no mention of sides to accompany the main course we were expecting these to be brought out with the dishes. Our mains came out with no sides following, and we were unable to get anyone’s attention to query this as they were so focussed on the birthday group. We eventually gave up and figured that maybe this is how they do things here (a whole baked trout with nothing else but an insane amount of parsley on the plate) and began eating. Well into our course and without breaking stride a bowl of greens and mash was placed on the table. Luckily at the end of the night we checked the bill as we had been charged for an extra dessert. Overall the venue and food were great, but the lack of management, training and direction in service took away from what otherwise could have been an excellent experience.More

We have visited here several times and the food and service is very good. Last night wasn’t up to the usual standard. Our reservation was at the weekend and the restaurant was understandably busy. After choosing our entrees we were then informed 2 of the...options were not on the menu which indicted poor planning given the early evening reservation. Two single slices of baguette arrived with butter, although one slice was significantly thinner than the other. We opted for the trout, warm potato salad and rocket and also the octopus. However there was no potato salad included in the trout dish and together the waiter and I picked through the abundance of rocket to see if it was there. The waiter wondered if the thinly sliced radish was potato, I assured them it wasn’t. Having to search for the elusive potato salad was a bizarre experience. The waiter suggested I choose another entree which I did. I was unsure why potato salad could not have been added to the plate, I’m guessing because they had run out and hoped the diner wouldn’t notice. The octopus option was good, it was more like a soup, but without any accompanying bread or spoon. The mains were good and so was the dessert. At any other establishment I might have overlooked these points, but this is an expensive place so critiques are vital to justify the prices charged. I hope it was just an ‘off’ night and we will come back again.More

Thanks Jodie for a fabulous dinner last night. We really appreciated your making some vegetarian dishes. The risotto was divine as was the filo pie. Can’t wait to come back!

We went here as the Brumby distillery was fully booked. It was a wonderful alternative. Food was tasty and service good. We had the local trout, Osso Bucco and a seafood pasta. These came with side dishes of mashed potato and green beans. We had...a bottle of Pinot Grigiot for about $50 Also had a range of handmade Easter chocolate gifts that looked great Definitely recommendMore

I don't remember, we don't have children so it's not something I notice. If you call them they can let you know. Kind regards Elizabeth
