My wife and I had a very good dinner in this casual but upmarket restaurant in Alma, the main town along the shores of Lac St-Jean. She had the duck breast, which was excellent, while I had the superb ribs. The service was excellent and the wait staff clearly spoke good English. The only reason I give it four rather... More

Good, not great. Very good staff. However, this is a medium restaurant, medium atmosphere, medium menu. Should be medium priced.

We had a wonderful dinner here tonight after a 5 day bike trip. Everyone had a different entree and everyones choice was supurb. Felix our waiter was fabulous. He had our menus translated to english from french. The atmosphere was quaint .they had blankets for that personal touch on the patio for the cool evening. Wonderful evening.

We had our dinner on a terrace on a warm summer night, but the inside looked very appealing as well. Both the food and the service were amazing! After figuring out that we didn't speak a lot of French, the restaurant provided us with a bilingual server and a menu in English, which was a nice touch. The food was... More

A nice restaurant with a good location and nicely done inside and out. The main problem is that they are pretending to be a top level restaurant but can't quite achieve it. So the prices are easily 50% higher than at similar restaurants (see my review of Le Bordelais) and the quantity is easily 30% less, but the quality is... More

It was there first Monday night open so it was quiet. The patio is situated under beautiful trees. The waitress was very pleasant and gave great suggestions. The menu was very creative and the food perfectly prepared. There was a good selection of wines on the winelist but not all were available. All-in-all a very enjoyable evening.

I checked Tripadvisor for restaurant reviews in Alma, and it appears that Rose & Basiic is the top of the list.... and for good reason. The experience was exceptional. The host was very professional and treated my like a long time client. The food was a gastronomical experience... I ordered the salmon (a la carte) and creme brulee for dessert.... More
