The restaurant at Taboo Resort, formerly Muskoka Sands Inn, is in a great location but the food isn't great, the service tends to be snobby, and the prices are way too high. What are you paying for: the view?

We have had several meals at the Taboo resort restaurant. They are kind of hit or miss. The meals can be tasty, the atmosphere can be nice (on a quiet day) but often times it feels understaffed. The service is just meh.

We tried dinner one evening. My husband's striploin had little flavour. If he had known the "greens" (kale and zucchini) were so similar to the accompanying salad, he would have made another selection. Thank goodness there were toppings on the boathouse burger (which 2 of us had), because that was pretty dull as well. The garlic aioli really livened it... More

On our arrival, we were left to wander until we found a server and asked if we could just seat ourselves outside on the patio overlooking the water. After waiting for 10 minutes, my husband went to find someone so we could order drinks. The hostess (we presume) came out to serve us. (there was no one else on the... More

Worst lunch ever! We paid $90 for disgusting and dry nachos (how can you mess up nachos!), horrible fettuccine with dry chicken, decent fish tacos and one drink. The service was mediocre at best. Take a 10-minute drive from the resort and visit all the different restaurants around, so much better and way more economical!

For: 1) Fantastic Sunsets from the Patio 2) you're on the resort anyway Against: 1) the food quality is inferior to the price point (expensive) 2) no fresh beverages in a pub like environment? Overall it gets a poor. I've been coming here for nearly 15 years and the location never seems to pull it off, perhaps due to poor... More

Boated over and tied up at the dock out front. Went upstairs and sat in the outdoor patio. Ordered drinks and the Mediterranean Plate for an appetizer. Was absolutely delicious. Nice afternoon experience.

We were looking for a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and the sunset. We had heard countless ads on the radio about Taboo but did not remember that there was a fire in 2014 that took out the restaurant. That would explain the less than stellar dining venue but it does not excuse the poor service and high pricing... More

This restaurant is like a roadhouse with a beautiful view. It is strictly run by teenagers and in the three days we stayed at the resort, where it is located, we never saw anyone over early 20's. The food is mediocre at best. The first day we had the nachos and they were out of sour cream so dropped the... More

Been many times prior by boat. Its was always a first class relaxing place to boat to, have a beer and great food view. New management by apparently 3 bar owners from Toronto, according to the staff. 12 bucks for a mimosa, 4 out of 4 orders were flat out terrible. Eggs beni all hard boiled, French toast with non...
