Visited for lunch today with friends for a belated 50th birthday present. Nice ambience, lovely cosy entrance area where we sat to have pre drinks near to the wood burning stove. Food presentation and quality is professional Masterchef. Really stunning. We wanted somewhere really special...More

We have been going to The Curlew (on and off) for the last 16 years - since we moved to Bodiam in fact and the place had not been open as a restaurant for long. In fact it still had a bar and we would...More

We hadn't been to the restaurant for a while, due to a bad experience. However, under the guidance of new owner and chef, Gary Jarvis, its firmly back on our favourite list. The food is excellent - execution and presentation of the highest quality. You...More

The curlew is located between Sandhurst and Hurst Green – almost a bit in the middle of nowhere. But let this remote location not deceive you. This is certainly one of the very best restaurants I have eaten for a long time. It is a...More

We had a really lovely lunch here today. I took my husband here for his birthday lunch and we were not disappointed. On arrival we had a drink in the cosy entrance/lounge. We were given little canapes which were delicious. As for the main we...More

We enjoyed a fabulous evening; excellent food, wine and service. A great place for a special celebration or just as a treat for body and soul.

After arriving at this restaurant, I was completely put off by the stench of sewage outside, not what you expect when bringing clients for a business lunch! Presentation of food fabulous, odour definitely not!!

We recently visited after we had a nasty traffic accident outside this venue. I can’t praise the staff highly enough for their care as they rushed to help us and bought us hot drinks to help with the shock. They then welcomed ourselves plus our...More

Description
In a previous life, The Curlew Restaurant at Bodiam, East Sussex was a Coaching Inn where travellers rested their weary, moustachioed heads and warmed their spirits while on rain-sodden route from Hastings to London. But now, Mark and Sara Colley have given The Curlew another life. Just an errant arrow flight from Hastings, stone skim from Bodiam Castle, mince from Brighton, manicured lawn from Tunbridge Wells, The Curlew is a place where formal food meets informal dining, where the city and country brush shoulders, style meets stile. Modern British dining for the Modern British diner. The Curlew has held a Michelin Star since 2011.
