What a shock and let down. Husband made reservations weeks ago for a belated Valentine dinner for last evening. We checked out the menu an hour before leaving for the restaurant. Once the taxi left, we noticed that the front entrance was not cleared of...More

From a delicious salad with hints of ginger, blueberries and granola, to grilled octopus Caesar salad to start.....to a goose leg cassoulet with sausage and pork flank (a peasant dish delightfully done in a upscale restaurant.....what a treat). Everything was perfect, the wine, the service,...More

My wife and I had a Christmas Dinner at the Tartuffe and have been very impressed by the quality of their 'french cuisine' as well as the service and atmosphere. A bit expensive but truly a high end restaurant for Gatineau and the National Capital...More

One of the best French restaurants in the National Capital area of Canada. Located in a historic building 2 blocks from the largest museum in the area. Le Tartuffe feels like you're dining in a well decorated home. The prices are at the higher end...More

Outstanding food! Very fresh, subtle flavor, artistically displayed. A bit pricey but worth the money. We'll go back

This was our first visit to the restaurant and we will certainly return. The service was excellent as was the food. Flavourful, cooked to perfection and beautifully displayed.

Young, knowledgeable, courteous staff. Absolutely every bite of food was delicious (squash soup, pork tenderloin, pecan dark chocolate pie as well as the bites from my husbands plate.

OK food. I think that the chef is trying to find his own cooking personality. The menu is quite ordinary, with products one can find everywhere with some weird combinations such as smoked snails with fish. Some strange sauces. Nice wine list. The sommelier tries...More

We went to the restaurant in August, for lunch. The restaurant looks good from the outside. We decided to take a place on the terrasse. The restaurant was empty... The menu was appealing. The plate was average. We were not impressed by the plate (quality,...More

I'll first say, the iced Quebec Apple cider and vodka martini is worth the trip on its own. Great, knowledgeable staff. Very accommodating. Timing was perfect from aperitif to coffee at the end. Very solid French cuisine with a twist of fusion. We had duck,...More

Description
This fine cuisine restaurant is located in a historical house, a stone's throw from the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Palais du Congres (Convention Centre), la Maison du citoyen and minutes from downtown Ottawa and the Casino Lac-Leamy. The fare at Le Tartuffe faithfully follows the inspirations of the owner, Gerard Fischer, resulting in a pleasing union of his French origins with Outaouais influences. Quite unlike Moliere's well-known, hypocritical theatre character of the same name, the restaurant Le Tartuffe is the ideal place to get together to spend happy, easy-going times in a warm, unpretentious atmosphere.
