'Trendy' Socialist Pig, displaying a 5 star rating, in Gananoque, Ontario's quaint downtown stretch is a restaurant with a name that gives a bad correlation to socialists everywhere; the pricing is pretentious; the food mediocre and the service is an afterthought. For those who stumble into it -- us poor visitors, it's a one time deal -- and it certainly... More

I was there at the beginning of November with my two adult daughters. One day we stopped in for lunch and a second day for special coffees. One day one the restaurant side and one day on the cafe side. Both times the service was great and friendly, the food and drinks were tasty, and the ambiance was cozy. Glad... More

A bohemian coffee shop in the heart of the town and close to all the river action. The cubano sandwich is really good. Relaxed atmosphere friendly staff.

I visited the cafe in mid winter -19 degree weather. The B&B told me they had the best Hot Chocolate in town, I would agree with them after visiting the location. I ordered the Smores and Banana hot chocolate. Amazing. I would even say it's better than most of the places in GTA. My only suggestion would be to update... More

We stopped in Gananoque on our way to Kingston and had coffee at the Socialist Pig. My daughter had pumpkin pie chai while I had the hot ginger lemonade...both very good, but we somewhat felt an unsocial vibe. We did not even receive a "hi, how are you' but staff happily chatted away with the locals as if we didn't... More

This place has the best coffee I've had in some time. The scones were to die for and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Had a great burger and dark stout, worth a return visit. The weekend brunch menu looks great. Decor is fascinating and the menu offerings are intriguing. Service was good.

This is a very cool, funky and hip coffee shop. It is totally unique and local. They use recycled books as part of their wall, so you know the owners are very green and environmental friendly (see attached pic). They like using organic ingredients too. The coffees and other menu times are a little expensive though, but are really delicious.... More

Started with 5 minute wait to be seen, then waitress telling about how she was alone and not going to give good service, out of the first 2 things we ordered, bees on deck, ordered burger, 2 tiny patties with a bee cooked into one of the sauces. Wife's potato salad was the grossest thing ever. Sent back didn't want... More

Decent food, all natural ingredients. No soft drinks but did have ice tea, etc. Plain decor, mason jar glasses and such.
