Thirteen of us came for dinner recently. We had reserved about a month before so were allocated a room all to ourselves. We had wonderful service from Heidi and many of us took advantage of the early bird special — $30 for a choice of...3 courses. Excellent value. Next time I come I am ordering the Dragon Boat - it looked awesome. Wonderful service, wonderful food…we will be back next year, if not before, for dinner, before flying into another backcountry lodge!More

Came for an early supper and got to enjoy their 3 courses for $30 special (available from 5-6pm). The food was so delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Next time we plan to try the mussels! Pictured is the butternut squash ravioli.

This restaurant is great for a casual dinner or lunch. The menu is varied and tasty, the restaurant is very beautiful and the waitress very nice.

Friendly, attentive service for our family group. Great selection of British Columbia wines. The menu offers a good variety of standard items.

From the hostess to the 2 servers we had, everyone was super friendly and very accommodating. We truly enjoyed the Asian noodle salad and pasta feature of the day - fusilli with chicken, bacon, peas. zucchini, mushrooms in a paprika garlic cream sauce. Would definitely...go back again!More

Dropped in without a reservation and were accommodated last second. Turned out to be the best meal we had in a week in Golden! Impressed by the quality and variety of the food especially for such a small kitchen. We live in a good size...city with literally a thousand restaurant options and this was as good as any! Great food, super friendly staff! We will be back!More

There are not too many finer dining options around so luckily our friends had made a dinner booking other-wise we'd have not got in. We chose a mix of the set menu and the a la carte with locally sourced beers and wines. The entree...I had was presented well but was small and unappealing taste-wise. The main I had was tasty and a more than adequate serving size, as were the other mains. The dessert option was a bit tasteless and sweet. Our table server was very attentive and accommodating. The atmosphere pleasant and casual howver in the small front room we were seated in the air-conditioning was too cold to be comfortble.More

The food was ok. There was nothing special about it and the predominant flavor of the main was salt and dessert was sugar. We started with the Stilton fondue which was delicious and enjoyed a bottle of wine, a Canadian Cassini Bordeaux blend. Both the...starter and wine were the only redeeming part of the meal. For our mains we had a NY strip and the house Cannelloni. The Cannelloni was dry and the sauce was under-seasoned. The steak had an overarching salt flavor and the vegetables were undercooked, almost raw. The shining star of the steak dish was the chimichurri, which they almost perfected but needed garlic and the addition of red chili. We ended with dessert to-go with the berry cheesecake and chocolate truffle. The cheesecake literally tasted like raw cream cheese with sugar sauce with sparse berry bites. The truffle was gross, the forward flavor was sugar with an extremely faint cocoa flavor. The food lacked complexity of flavor and was similar to airline food or something you would be served at a professional conference. We booked our reservation several weeks prior to our trip into Golden to celebrate a special occasion. When we booked by phone we included our dogs on the reservation. On the day of our meal we noted that there was another table with a dog right next to them on the grass but we were told we had to tie our dogs approx 20-25 meters away in direct sun. When we asked about our dogs staying next to our table on the grass we were told, no. We pressed and asked what was different about our dogs and were told “it’s dog central today”. We then bore witness to several staff members complaining amongst themselves, in front of guest tables, how busy it was and how “this is too much today”. Our server, although amicable, asked us for our order, but greeted a local and her guests (it was obvious they knew each other) with talking them through specials and recommendations. Being from a tourist town, we know your locals carry you through shoulder season but don’t make it so obvious you must endure tourists and have double standards.More

Service was great. Atmosphere quaint and comfortable. Only complaint was a bit cold from the a/c. I had the curry chicken so good. My partner has the mountain boil also excellent. Will definitely dine here again if in Golden.

We stopped for a couple of nights in golden whilst road tripping, we stumbled across this place on a drive around town, we got a table outside in the courtyard (little did we know until we went to pay there is a full restaurant inside)...the food we cannot fault it was very homely and tasty I wanted a second a bowl of pasta. Excellent service, in the midst of of air conditioning issues. We arrived with no reservations, and the outside patio was packed, we were offered a place to sit and ordered up a few drinks while we waited. This is billed as a community restaurant but it is professionally run and offers a wide choice at good prices. Wise to book in advance at weekends, or dine early.
