Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spent a day in Davenport and decided to eat here . Place was busy and as I was looking over the menu, a nice young waitress greeted us. I asked for Fish and Chips and she brought me inside to see the full menu. We decided to stay and found a great table on the street. There were a few other tables free but they filled up quickly. I had the fish and chips and my wife had the Seafood Chowder. She said her chowder was delicious and my fish was perfectly done with a crisp batter. We enjoyed our meal and as soon as we left our table was snapped up quickly. Great stop!

Visiting from Australia, and found this little restaurant, looked very busy but managed to get a table inside. The menu was fabulous, and my husband was hankering after fish and chips, I chose the scallops with cauliflower purée, grilled asparagus and a caramel sauce - it was a small portion and absolutely perfect for me. Full of flavour and such a beautiful lunch. My husband was equally pleased with his fish and chips with side salad and tartare sauce - We ate everything. Staff were busy and moving around at fast pace, however most tables were full and service was good.

We were 4 for dinner at Manuka. We know they aim to be an affordable destination so don't expect five star. The seafood chowder was good. However, contrary to my expectation the El Salvador pizza was neither flavoursome or spicy. Clearly there was too much salt because I woke in the middle of night with the classic salt overdosed mouth. Contrarily the dilute Margarita was served in a water glass with no salt. It's all very well to have a variation on a classic but it would be good to be told. Sorry but in no hurry to go back.

We went to Manuka on a visit to Devonport in January. It had good reviews so we had lunch there. The service was very poor (indifferent staff). As we have a need for gluten free food we check carefully before we go places. They advertised gluten free throughout their menu, on their promotional black boards, on trip advisor and had a sign at the till cheerfully saying please let us know if you have allergies.
They had very little food that was gf despite the extensive labelling and advertising. The staff offered no advice or support on what you could order. The waiter was really rude throughout. We should have left then. One of the normal meals that was served came with a big long black hair.
It was a very ordinary experience.

In the busy hussle bussle of Devonport Manuka is a great place to stop and lunch. Food is great and you won't go away hungry. They also cater for children with colouring and a good selection of kids meals. We sat out on the pavement and watched people pass by and enjoyed the scenery and great weather.

We've been staying in Devonport over the last week, and had dinner here twice as well as breakfast.
The meals and service are always 10/10, and the staff are always welcoming and very friendly.
We called in late yesterday afternoon for an extremely early dinner, but it wasn't a problem and our meals were absolutely delicious.
Highly recommended.

We waited for service, noone came, went and got menus ourselves and then waited again for staff, flagged a waitress down, ordered and waited 45 minutes, gave up and left.
Manager/Owner has a terrible temper and shouldnt be dealing with customers. He blamed us for coming to get menus and so thats why our service was not good.

Unfortunately sometimes visiting due to good ratings is not worth the trip. We had calamari and I had a seafood chowder that was very watery and not very tasty. When asked how the meal was and hubby commented it was quite watery the reply was “well that’s how we make it”. Needless to say this is not the customer experience I desire. The coffee was nice though

Talked to a luv lady on the way over on the ferry, one of our family is vegan she said to try here as it would cater for us all. So pleased we met her, the food was superb, we ordered a vegan pizza, carbonara, snapper and some other fish beginning with T. It’s was all fantastic and desert. We defiantly recommend you eat here. He even got our Geordie UK humour over the tea.

Susan and Peter, new owners of Manuka Cafe and Restaurant, have transformed their historic building into an inviting venue with an extensive menu of delightfully delicious food. Susan, also is an amazing baker with a nice selection of cakes, bars and cookies, but the star has to be her famous carrot cake! Go there for that if nothing else and you won't be disappointed.
With good food, great service and a very comfortable ambiance, Manuka Cafe and Restaurant is a "must do" when visiting Devonport.

My wife Deborah and I visited the delightful town of Devonport last Wednesday the 22nd January and came across this delightful cafe/restaurant.
The service was excellent and friendly just what we hoped for following our exhausting flight from the UK.
I opted for the renowned seafood chowder which was simply amazing, full of local seafoods and topped with green lipped mussels. A fabulous midday brunch.
If you are passing pop in to this lovely cafe. Definitely recommend.

We love coming this place! We are local to Devonport and love coming to Manuka so much that its now our destination, espcially for my vegetarian lunches. My husband loves the Seafood chowder and the new Goat Chicken and our kids love everything from the kids menu, I'm vegetarian and really have been enjoying their vegetarian options specially the Calzone. Service is fantastic and the new owners are deligtful. Great to see so many tourist and other locals. Highly recommended!

Probably the worst service I have had in years, we ordered the food and 40+ minutes later(after having to ask) it arrived. The attitude of the waitress was really poor and she seemed to think we were trying to get some kind of reduced bill as we ordered children's portions even though we had our grandchildren there. Food was stone cold and as we had waited so long we were hungry and ate it. We got a $15 deduction as a form of compensation but I doubt if my family would go back.

For more than 20 years I've been a regular diner and supporter of this restaurant, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with family and friends, through three sets of lovely owners. Sadly the latest one is both rude, unpleasant and arrogant, concerned more about promoting his status as owner rather than a customer's comfort. We are lucky to have many good local restaurants in Devonport, so I encourage you to go elsewhere and support those who actually deserve your support.

My lovely wife and I dropped for dinner last friday evening without a booking. we were shown to a table and water was brought immediately. I ordered the chicken and mango salad and my wife a pizza. She had a delicious Spy Valley sauvignon Blanc while I opted for a fruit smoothie. Our meals arrived very promptly. They were delicious. The simple but delightful ingrediets in my salad were so fresh and so enjoyable. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her pizza which was topped full of ingredients. The price for the lot was about $70 which I thought was very fair. Thoroughly recommended.
