The meals are wonderfully fresh and delicious and beautifully presented. Some of the fruits and vegetables are grown on the property.

We stayed a night at Casa Botania during our four-week trip to Costa Rica. We wish we had stayed longer. It is a beautiful place and the hosts, Kathleen and Pepe, were magnificent. We dined at their vegetarian restaurant during our stay. We are not vegetarian. The food, most of which was freshly sourced from their garden, was exceptional. It... More

We spent two nights at the BandB, and every meal was wonderful. Breakfast comes free with lodging. It's a generous multi-course affair. Ample fresh tropical fruits, a fruit smoothie, fresh home-made breads and jams, and that's just the start. Belgian waffles, eggs, oatmeal in coconut milk, these are just some of the offerings we ate or saw served while there.... More

Great atmosphere and view from this small B&B in San Vito. We have never stayed in the cabins but the food is delicious. A must do!

Coming from NYC and SF, I hadn't expected to enjoy a gourmet meal that would be comparable. Casa Botania offers high quality dining, prepared with a good deal of care and pride, using the best local ingredients. The dishes are an interesting mix of cuisine from around the world, not only Belgium from where Kathleen hails. One recent meal included... More

The food is even more outstanding than the views. We were surprised to find such quality food in a small mountain town like this. A three course meal was provided for one extremely reasonable price, plus a nice wine selection. We truly enjoyed our entire experience here.

Kata....food....view...quiet....hummingbirds....rest.....every place could take lessons from Kata's cooking, hospitality and how they built this place by hand. Ask the story....wait till you see the morning food for your delight.

People often stop in to my native crafts store to ask for restaurant or hotel recommendations. Casa Botania is a B & B that offers simple but lovely and well crafted rooms, great breakfasts including Belgian waffles, as Kathleen the co-owner, is Belgian. My husband and I always celebrate special occasions by making dinner reservations there, whenever the guest rooms... More

I own a home about 5 minutes from Casa Botania and have eaten there now about 5 times. The food is awesome. It starts out with a selection of wines, an appetizer,( I had the smoked salmon on bread, my wife had the soup) an incredible dinner and desert. Everything is home made by the friendly owners Pepe and Kathleen.... More

Description
Casa Botania is a B&B located about 4 k south of San Vito de Coto Brus. If it is not full of guests choosing to make dinner reservations, then one can dine there even if one is staying at the Wilson Botanical Garden or in San Vito center. The site is just one year old with two cabins and interior room in the small main building. The facilities are in the vernacular--comfortable and in good taste. The food is exceptional for the region--with extra care taken to buy the freshest ingredients locally available. My husband and I have eaten there at least six times and are never disappointed. The last dinner was the best ever--a thick filet of robalo (snook) perfectly cooked with a mustard cream sauce, browned garlic mashed potatoes and a broiled half tomato with parleyed bread crumbs. This was preceded by a divine and sophisticated fish soup (probably the robalo's bones lent themselves to the broth), with toast points a tad charred on the tips--just right! One could imagine being in Marseilles. Finally, crepes suzettes made with Grand Marnier. The owners are Belgian and Tico, and the results are certainly the best meal one can find in the San Vito region. Whenever we have guests from out of town, we find our way to the charming Casa Botania for dinner.
