Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great restaurant. Awesome meals. Lovely peaceful location. Very fresh seafood and very tasty Barra. Staff very attentive. They provide fish food for the kids to feed the koi, which is a fun touch. We would recommend this place to anyone!

The surroundings were perfect a moat with fish swimming. The food took a little time to arrive but was well presented and really nice to eat. We didn't want a large meal so ordered the Kids lunch, it was still plenty to eat and the...coffee was very nice too.More

Went back after 4 weeks for lunch. I was all fished out from a meal the night before so tried the chicken schnitz. Light and crispy and very tasty with gravy. So much that I asked for a doggie bag to take home. Others had...the combo with salt n pepper squid and they really know how to cook this without making it tough to chew. Well done. My only drawback is the driveway into the venue that is getting more pot holes by the hour. Please fix it. Friendly service and great service with a smile once again. Back I go again!More

The entrees we had were ok nothing great. We had osters kilpatrick, too much of a tomato taste, thai fish cakes were good, the barramundi spring rolls pretty bland. The mains were divine! Barramundi poached in seafood broth, excellent. The combo calamari and cocktail barramundi...was delicious, the green thai curry barramundi was lovely. Big serves. Desserts were not great, homemade tiramisu tasted bland, dry and not palatable. The home made creme brulee had no flavour either. The barramundi was fantastic food but the entrees and desserts were not as good as Ive had before. Worth a visit.More

After being recommended by a family member, we decided to try Cookabarra restaurant as part of my birthday celebration. It did not disappoint. It is set in a peaceful and tranquil location away from a main road and noise. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. There...is a wide selection of food and beverages on the menu and the serving portions are generous. Our garlic prawns were cooked perfectly and our two barramundi main meals were delicious. A very special mention and thanks goes to our lovely hostesses, Kimmy and Courtney. Kimmy was very friendly ,attentive and knowledgeable and helped complement our lunch. We will most definitely go again. John and Megan.More

For $12, there is a tour that runs twice a day to see the farm. Make sure to book for this as they don’t take walk-ins. The farm tour was so much fun, seeing the tiniest barramundi to those that can be eaten. The farm...then sells them to the restaurant; true farm to table. The restaurant is fantastic, I had the combo meal of barra bites and salt and pepper calamari - the serving size is generous. Bookings essential if you want an outdoor table, ask for a table by the ramp if you want to watch people feeding the koi.More

Had a great and informative tour of the farm by the owner. He's obviously very passionate and proud about what they have built and rightly so. Highly recommended.

The disappointing thing about the place is how bad the service was. The lady staff is unprofessional and inconsiderate. I hope the owner of this place should focus on finding good people to help the business to grow.

why did we wait so long to go this place.... all of our family have been there and kept advising us to try it out. thank goodness we did on our trip to nelson bay last month. such a hidden gem. the garden setting is...lovely and the restaurant has a fish pond surrounding the deck which feels very calm. we enjoyed the tour and learnt so much about sustainable fish production. we enjoyed a fabulous lunch of prawn/ginger dumplings and the asian style barramundi whole fish. sensationalMore

What a refreshing experience! Sitting on a wide open verandah, surrounded by a moat full of Japanese carp & overlooking gardens eating an array of delicious Barramundi chosen from the array of other Australian dishes. This is a Barramundi Farm so the fish is as...fresh as & cooked beautifully. I've been twice now & both times the dishes have been delicious. Plenty of parking too & even 2 Disabled parking spots, although the signs need upgrading. I highly recommend this restaurant especially for visitors to the area.More

Sadly our return visit to the Barramundi Farm/Cookaburra Restaurant was like something out of One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest - it was bizarre Crazy mentally unstable staff member wearing a boot on her foot decided she wanted to analyze our demeanour and tell us...we were " stand offish " Then to lie to ur boss saying that I said "We only wanted a F****** drink" is a lie and laughable as we are Seventh Day Adventist we dont drink and certainly dont say words like that !! I rang and spoke to the owner - and i was informed what I was supposed to have said - re the drinks - I declined his kind offer to return and have his wife serve us IDK who that person is (with the foot boot) BUT they need some serious therapyMore

Talk about a place that provides a total package. You can go on a extremely informative tour of the barramundi farm here. We had the pleasure of having the owner give us the tour of the place. We found him very warm, friendly and full...of interesting information. He passed the tour onto another of his staff after a while you also was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. After the tour you can eat at there restaurant that offers a wide range of meals which we found to be delicious. Highly recommended you stop by and see this place.More

Support sustainable local farming and enjoy the freshest barramundi you are ever likely to eat. Beautifully tranquil setting with great food and friendly hosts. Do take part in the tour before or after lunch which will truly make you appreciate buying local and the difference...in taste when you eat straight from the water or garden as opposed from restaurants where produce has to travel distances to your table.More

Wonderful lunch with friends on the wide, open, breezy & COVID friendly deck. Entree of Garlic Prawns were beautiful, as was the main course of The Combi - luscious Barra pieces coated in the lightest of batter, as were the Squid rings, with a superb...home made tartare sauce & the best chips ever! Coffee could be improved upon, but overall a lovely & enjoyable lunch. Will be back for sure.More
