The reviews I read did not disappoint. The avocado special on the potato skins was simply delicious. It was also the best almond flat white I had ever had. The beetroot brownie was a bit sweet for me but my husband lapped it up. We had 3 minutes to order before the kitchen closed for breakfast and the staff made sure we did not miss out. Not too many dairy free sweets which would be an added bonus. Loved the feel of the owner through the restaurant right through to his charity work in Cambodia. Awesome, you must go.

We spontaneously walked into Moos at 9am this morning for breakfast and were surprised to be told that they were nearly booked out. Luckily we secured a couple of spots. Equally surprising was the quality of our breakfast which was absolutely yummy and a little different from the usual inner-city Melbourne fare. I had Dutch-oven pancakes (of which I hadn't ever heard), with berry compote and ricotta ... just delicious! Highly recommend.

Our lunch today at Moo's was very, very disappointing. Polite friendly service and setting, but the food was at best well below average. The salmon patties had run out by 12 noon, so we all waited an hour for three serves of the Fried Thai Chicken. We all stared at the plates in disbelief. Each plate had two pieces of dried brown fried unappetising chicken pieces sitting on soggy, cold french fries, accompanied with what I think was meant to be a thai style salad. This consisted of coarsely chopped carrot pieces with a vague sprinkle of coriander and alot of beanshoots. Couldn't taste the dressing, even if it had any. This was accompanied with a serve on the side standard (bottled?) chilli sauce all served on some Moo paper. We really wanted this to be good, as it was our first lunch out for 6 months, but it was far from that. If this is a popular dish, (as the owner protested when my parents rang later to complain) then I think our food standards have slipped well and truly in the lockdown. Clearly with other reviews the burgers are good, which we didn't eat, so they may need to be well be, because you need to steer clear of the chicken. The large US food chain serves better and it too is wrapped in paper and it's far cheaper, and tastier. This cost $78 for just the food!

Corner position, cool wine bar, cafe, restaurant. We dropped in for a quick bite , coffee and muffin for me, glass of the daily local selection Pinot Noir and a warm savory dish to share. Service brisk, menu quickly updated, cool decor, seating in and out. Rather funky place all round.
Coffee was good, great aroma taste, walnut, apple and cinnamon muffin was fresh and tasty, tho rather small. Savory dish , cantcremember, had its bread, a savory relish and pumpkin turmeric mix if that's right from memory. The Pinot Noir tho, had all the promise of a fine local Gippsland crafterd wine, sadly had been opened too long ( by the glass) and was oxidized beyond pleasant and was quite awful. A little care from the bar could have over one that by checking bottle opening and sealing time and process. Otherwise reasonable value and we may return!

Arrived after a shower of rain but wanted to sit outside tables at the front under veranda were full. Looked at courtyard as young man said he’d check if a table was available. Courtyard was empty as chairs were wet which we didn’t mind as had our miniature daschound with us. Very well done with rustic wooden tables and stools.
Coffee took along time to come out and was very strong for a latte. Then a 30 minute wait for food was a little too long. Toast and marmalade okay. Dutch pancake was a baked custard with small amount of berries and citrus curd which I liked. Service could have been better as no cutlery brought out so when the food was finally delivered had to wait again.

Quite ordinarily really. We had what was described as 'tapas' but it was very average. Fried chicken on some sad lettuce. Fried squid on some sad lettuce. Duck spring rolls (not bad ) on some sad lettuce, and prawn dumplings on some sad cucumber. All underseasoned and lacking imagination. Shame as last time we called in the food was far more interesting.

We had a couple of nights in February at Maple Ridge Cottages in Dumbalk and two more at Campania at Meeniyan in March so, on both visits, we had Thursday lunches at Moo's. On our second lunch, we started with the pork dumplings and the salmon croquettes. For main, she had the Reuben toastie and I had the lasagne pie. All were very good. Even with drinks and a bottle of shiraz, the bill only came to $130. Cheapest lunch we've had for ages and great value. It was good to catch up with Marty again and a big thanks to waiter Luca for his recommendation of Long John Pickle at Fish Creek for lunch the following day.

Our family of 4 adults enjoyed a lovely lunch at Moo’s. 3 of us chose the special burgers and were very happy with our choice. The other dish chosen was a chicken dish that was also very tasty. Very friendly staff provided excellent service and all at a reasonable price.

We don't get to Moo's as often as we'd like simply because of the distance from home. However, we had to be at Warragul and Drouin that day and decided that would be a good excuse to drive on to Meeniyan later for dinner. We knew Marty from the old days when he was at Barmah Park restaurant in Moorooduc and had been to Moo's twice for lunch not long after it first opened so it was great to catch up again after a lengthy absence.
The interior of the place had changed considerably and looks really good as does the outside bar and dining area. We started out there with a Loch gin martini for me and a Bellini spritz for her and then moved inside when our entrees arrived. We'd intended sharing the chicken and mushroom dumplings and the salmon croquettes but, after starting them, agreed that we didn't want to share them at all. Too good.
We both had the excellent moussaka for mains but struggled to finish them after the big lunch I'd had at Albert and Smith in Warragul and her lunch at Middels in Drouin. A bottle of Bleasdale sparkling shiraz was a great accompaniment to the meal and we finished off with glasses of the Behind the 8 Ball shiraz. A great dinner.
In the absence of anywhere else to stay which is walking distance from Moo's, we'd booked a room at the Meeniyan Motel. The rain was monsoonal as we went to leave the restaurant and, thankfully, Marty drove us back to the motel. It's a bit of a dump but it's quiet and we both slept well there. Hopefully, our next visit to Moo's will be sooner rather than later.

First meal in a restaurant after 'Lockdown' and it was fabulous and friendly. We had the 'roasted duck' and 'lamb moussaka' and we loved both of them. The roast duck, an exceptionally pleasant surprise, was accompanied by the Thai red chickpea coconut curry. Very tasty, 'to die for', would have it again for sure!
Also loved the 'new look' after extensive renovations over Covid.
Thanks to Marty and the Moo Crew!

This perfectly positioned corner cafe is hard to miss when driving through Meeniyan. Tastefully decorated and styled in a way that perfectly blends trendy cafe with stylish restaurant.
There are two smallish seating areas (rooms) inside, several tables out front on the sidewalk, and a big sitting area outback.
The menu is great and offers everything from Breakfast to lunch to dinner.
We had a wonderful dinner, so much so that we returned the next morning for breakfast which was equally as good.
Dinner: Loved the international selection of starter dishes (Mexican cheese & dip was so good!). Beautiful fresh pasta and delicious fried chicken.
Breakfasts: the Dutch pancake was incredible! And the salmon bagel really good.
Coffee was excellent- beans from Yarragon (Gippsland) roaster.
Service was excellent- so friendly & relaxed.
Highly recommended!

Hidden gem in the beautiful surrounds of Meeniyan.
Decor is functional and cafe elegant with functionality the priority.
Staff in front of house were obviously local teenagers who were warm and friendly and very attentive.
The menu was minimal but wonderful with choices. Each dish has a charming twist with local produce and eclectic design.
We had The Gippster that was smashed Avo and crumbed egg on beautiful sour dough bread. The presentation with tomato and other sides was very special and the dish overall was excellent.
I had the Eggs Benny that was again beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Eggs were lovely organic and delicious and the bacon also just right. Amazing twist was the perfect base of Potato Cakes that gave it the perfect balance of flavours.
Coffee was also great and would hold its own anywhere.
Overall experience was great!
I highly recommend stopping by if you are travelling in the area.
Enjoy!

Went for brunch this time with another couple. A different menu to our dinner a few nights ago. Everything was so fresh and tasty that we all enjoyed our meals enormously. Any misunderstandings between us and the staff regardless of fault were quickly fixed and I think that is a sign of a great restaurant because there will always be minor issues. Correcting them without fuss is the trick. We had the best time and it was a lovely sunny day and all was well.
