If you’re looking for a great feed whilst travelling the Pacific Highway and like us loathe those “service centres”, check out Rosie’s Cafe at Johns River (literally 1 minute off the highway). Tasty well priced food, great coffee and friendly service. You won’t be disappointed

What a great little spot to stop and stretch the legs and enjoy a coffee. Very friendly staff with a great choice of cakes with your coffee. Or enjoy a great lunch or breakfast menu. The meals are well prepared, in a clean and tidy...More

This is one of the few places on the highway where you can stop and get good old fashioned service and lovely food. Under cover outside seating where dogs are allowed. Coffee was excellent so were the large servings of steak sandwich and a hamburger....More

What a lovely surprise! Stopped in and had excellent coffee and cakes. Friendly fast service. Lovely crockery. Very clean rest rooms. Beautiful authentic country ambience. Do yourself a favour next time you are up that way.

On a road trip from Sydney to Ballina, it is a short and easy detour from M1 into John's River from either direction, just 4 hours from Sydney. There you will find a cosy cafe, with friendly people, serving great coffee and yummy homely food....More

After traveling 5 hours the sign promised perfect coffee. Very disappointing. I ordered gluten free eggs Benedict. It came out full wheat. When I mentioned this the lady got cranky. So much so that other patrons near us commented to us how awful that was....More

Stopped here for lunch after reading reviews. Ordered the steak sandwich and the meat was stewed and tough. Hubby ordered the burger and although the meat wasn't overcooked it too lacked any real flavour. Overall it was tasteless. Only positive was a great milkshake! Also...More

Disappointed as Rosie's has been a regular highway stop for us, that a simple takeaway full milk cappucino tasted overcooked, off and undrinkable. We were on the road, so there was no taking it back, and the effects for my husband were quite unpleasant.

Description
Rosie's Cafe is in the heart of the tiny village of Johns River just north of Taree. Nestled in the arms of the Three Brothers the area has long been known for its natural beauty. Rosie’s is a vision of picture postcard rusticity and is the home of “rusticuisine”, locally grown, seasonally based, good, simple food prepared by Rosie's food evangelist Luke, who sources the majority of his ingredients from the Café’s own kitchen gardens which are chemical and pesticide free. The gardens are enriched by the in-situ worm towers which recycle the cafés green waste into organic fertilizer. The basic menu is always embellished with specials featuring seasonal ingredients, and there is always something decadent for dessert, if you have never tried Luke’s Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie then you are in for an indulgent treat. Rosie's also has a Gallery, currently on exhibit are the works of local artist Judy Bray. Rosie’s gift shop is located within the Gallery area where you will find some delightful and unique gifts, beautiful decorator pieces for the home and delightful bath, body & beauty products as well as pre-loved clothing, ceramics and hand made jewellery. Rosie's also has a great range of cookbooks and gourmet products. The courtyard offers covered outdoor dining or relax under a shady umbrella and enjoy a perfect cup of Holy Goat coffee with your meal or a slice of delicious house made cake. We even have our own resident ghost. Her name is Amy and she is often glimpsed through a window or heard whispering in the Gallery.
