Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So their website says their kitchen is open until 3.30 pm 7 days a week. We got there at just after 2.30 to be told that the kitchen was closed, having spent 30 minutes to drive there specially. There are no others cafes in Hyams...Beach, so we've wasted an hour round trip. It should be really simple not to mess people around - just list your hours on your website. Easy, if you take a minute to think about not inconveniencing people.More

This is the only cafe in Hyams Beach and thank goodness it has excellent coffee! My only gripe: we ordered takeaway buttered toast - when I opened the box (in the car) it had toast with a tub of butter but no implements to spread...the butter ... odd. The cafe also stocks some basic groceries and items which is handy so you don't have to drive to Vincentia.More

The "Cooked Goose" Cafe is an incarnation of the traditional Hyams Beach General Store/Cafe which has changed hands several times over the decades. Similar layout and design features but obviously new staff, menu and service. The place does need a good clean and repaint however....We visited just after 2pm understanding it closes at 3pm but beware the kitchen closes at 2:30pm. Service was mostly attentive and orders were taken quickly. I requested the "Mediterranean lamb burger" which is a local favourite and arguably the signature offering for decades but was told the new owners had removed it from the menu. Typical Cafe food in lieu and nothing exciting on the menu. I opted for the beef burger and chips for around $18. There was little to no waiting time for our food. I was disappointed with the burger, overly processed ingredients such as American style cheese and its size was something to rival McDonald's. The chips were plentiful however, and were well cooked. I'll leave this one for the tourists, nothing too exciting to return to.More

Went in with standard expectations due to level of competition, and the breakfast was excellent. This is rare in regional Australia. Excellent poached eggs, and great coffee.

What a haven. Just gorgeous, sitting on the stylish verandah with attentive staff bringing food and drink. Beer and wine, loved a tasty Coopers Pale ale, just the thing after the turquoise water and white, white sand of the beach below. Happy diners suggested the...Japanese chicken burger. I ordered that. A sensational spice & texture blend. Another had a simple salad with grilled chicken - she loved it. Cous cous, fresh seasonal ingredients, wonderful on the palatte; crisp & flavour filled. Sunny spot with smiling staff; great fun food. Worth visiting. Worth planning to be here! Bliss.More

First day was a Saturday, we were lucky to have the outside corner table on arrival. Service a bit slow but I did enjoy the egg and bacon roll with chilli jam on my choice of sour dough instead of the chunky turkish bread offered....The following morning we waited 45mins for a group table of 7. The ladies were seated at a group table by themselves and even though they had finished their breakfast and knew there was a large group waiting they didn't budge and kept gas bagging. The staff were unfriendly on this day and no smiles on their faces. Lastly, the kitchen staff didn't wear gloves which I find surprising during times of covid. I saw a kitchen guy putting cheese on a roll which I guessed was ours and he scratched his hair and continued to make the egg and bacon rolls. Absolutely disgusting! I will never recommend or return here again! Untrained young staff and could not see any sort of management about.More

This cafe is well placed above the beach and is very well patronised as it is about the only place to get a quick bite and a coffee without driving for a couple of kilometres. Limited menu - burgers, egg and bacon rolls, fish and...chips etc plus drinks. Food just OK but service was fairly slow even though we visited on a Friday out of holidays.More

I was starving, it was late and I expected a limp sandwich or sausage roll with sauce. My bad for pre-judging. Instead, I was served a sensational feta and caramelised onion tart, and a range of salads that were so good I bought another serve...to take away. And I had a delicious decaf flat white as well... not often you can say that about decaf! These people really know their stuff, they are so lovely and there are really moving sealife photos on the walls by a local photographer who's also a marine biologist. Do give this cafe a try.More

If visiting Hyams Beach, this is your only on site option but they respect their monopoly and maintain a good standard. Service was efficient and coffee quality first class. Can be busy at times so patience may be a virtue.
