Hubby& I have been to the Alma several times ... enjoying the Food & the comfort of dining room & especially the Seniors specials ... We decided to take Mum ( 91) who’s first comment was “I didn’t think we are coming somewhere so posh...for “A Seniors Treat” It was the first time we’ve been on a Tuesday & were surprised it was SO busy ... We were greeted by a lovely Young Man called Liam ... It did seem to take a bit longer to be served , which was understandable because they were so busy... When the Potato & pumpkin soup came it was so peppery it was not as pleasant as we imagine ... but the roast , fish & calamari was yummy & Ofcourse the churros were just as yummy .... My final thoughts ... perhaps one more staff member might of helped the wait , plus the pressure the staff might of felt ... We will be backMore

Dropped in for a couple of drinks and dinner on a Saturday night. Ordered a bottle of red wine for $45. The bar man put the bottle in an ice bucket! The wine was the worst Barossa Shiraz I ever had. Went to order a...pizza from their menu and was informed it was too hot to cook pizza. Too hot in Autumn? Why bother having it on your menu! Too busy catering for the 18 year olds. Would not recommend anyone goes here. Keep driving and go to The Republic!More

Was having a drink at the Alma hotel Saturday 6/2/21 when my partner went to order a bowl of fries at 8.30. She was told sorry the kitchen had closed which was fair enough. Then a couple came in and were warmly greeted by security...guards while they sat at the table for 10 minutes perusing the menu. He then went to the bar to order, but was obviously was told, sorry, kitchen was closed at which time security escorted him to somewhere else: at which time the manager came out and placed cutlery and a table number on their table. They had obviously ordered food somewhere. I suspect directly to the kitchen. We approached the manager to enquire as to why they were allowed food and he had the audacity to lie and say it was a pre-order!! It was not a pre-order, as we sat and watched them look over menu before they went to bar. Pre-ordered does not go to bar. This does not sit well, nor look professional, when people are treated differently and then clearly friends of the staff receive preferential treatment, followed by a barrage of lies from the manager. We wonder why we should go back.More

Booked for lunch with family. Although listed in the Entertainment Book they refused to honour it. Food was very expensive and serves small. My meal off the 'plant based menu' was tasteless. I had asked for chilli to be added when I ordered it. They...had thrown in 4 tiny slices of capsicum. I would think a chef/cook would understand that capsicum isn't chilli? My son had salt and pepper squid... $28 + an extra $2 for chips. Small serve of tasteless squid and about 10 chips! Indifferent staff. Will never return.More

Friendly staff but that’s it! Ordered a Thai beef salad. 6 slices of beef, very little salad but plenty of noodles. Husband got soggy tempura fish. Very disappointing. Never again

We may have made a mistake in choosing the Seniors menu . The food was very poor, particularly the soup - thin and fatty . The patties were over cooked/ burnt . Fish and chips were quite good though . Perhaps the “normal “ food...may have been goon but I will never know after what we were served up with . The upside was the service , great staff . You can do a lot better elsewhere I am sure .More

We visited the Alma during a Monday lunchtime. The service was excellent - so many smiling, welcoming people greeting us. I ordered the sirloin steak special which was cooked perfectly and came with two grilled mushrooms, sliced potatoes and a red wine jus. It was...delicious. My husband had the chicken schnitzel with black bean and corn chip and an advocado nacho topping. He thought the schnitzel was well cooked and the nacho topping was very tasty and spicy without being overwhelming. So we will be back for more fabulous service and food in the future. Cheers, guys, to a job well done!More
