Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ordered the Seniors Meal. Grilled small piece of fish, not fresh, told staff. Was told, "Fish fresh yesterday." No, not so. Chips very good, zucchini overcooked, 2 pieces of broccoli. Replaced with small piece of thin crumbed commercial chicken schnitzel. Dessert very, very sweet apple...crumble, half a water glass full. I do not recommend this meal.More

Appalling service. Ordered a kids meal. Didn’t get served kids drink, adult drink forgotten and when kids meal plate taken didn’t get served or asked about included dessert. We asked for it and waited…..Ran out of time waiting so asked for ice cream takeaway….waitress failed...to put order to kitchen and after waiting even longer we left without it. No real apology. Just a shrug of shoulders. It was not that busy!!!More

Overall meals good, service as usually is excellent. Korean Burger, nothing Korean about it. Not sure about bacon on it being Korean, but will take it as I love bacon but no Kimchi or pickled veg. Was just a chicken burger, disappointing. The menu said...chipotle but must have had the last 2 drops out of the bottle.More

Hi Sue! Thanks for the feedback. Our Korean Fried Chicken Burger uses a popular Korean frying style that's lighter than normal frying methods, hence the name - sorry we didn't explain that well on the menu. And kimchi is a definite great addition to a...More

Had the best roast and veg I have ever had. The meat was tender and there were plenty of veg including lots of greens. This was followed by the best ever pavlova. It was worth the travel across town to have this meal.

Terrible experience. Porterhouse steak ordered medium rare arrived with the centre still frozen and uncooked. Inedible. Two of the others had pasta - both delivered only just warm. Four of the party ordered from the seniors menu and got bread rolls but the two of...us who ordered from the regular menu were told we couldn’t have one. Service was inattentive. We were never asked if we wanted to order wine or anything else after we had an initial lemon squash so we didn’t. We would have ordered at least one bottle of wine. But we were so peed off by the indifferent service that we decided not to order wine. The seniors ordered sweets (part of a 3 course menu) but when the other two diners expressed interest they were told rather rudely “Well you’ll have to pay full price.” No point employing young girls as wait staff without training them in basics. The cook if they are not using fresh product should thaw out the meat first thing in the morning. Very ordinary pub experience. Our group eats regularly at Adelaide pubs but we are not going back to The Alma.More

Coeliac friendly place - we were pleasantly surprised how Coeliac aware they are. Food prepared and cooked separately with no hassles. Their GF churros were amazing, same with the chocolate brownie. The GF fish and chips were generous and the batter was lovely and light,...the barramundi laksa was lovely and warming, but I felt probably too many rice noodles. We will definitely be back again!More

The most underwhelming meal I’ve think I’ve ever had, the so called double cheeseburger was nothing more than two pieces of meat in a dry bun, with some cucumber as pickle, not even pickled cucumber! Just cucumber! no effort, no love. Didn’t even get sauce...in the burger. An absolute dissatisfying moment. My wife order the salmon salad which was just as disappointing soggy wilted salad again no effort, no love. If this is the bar set by the cook at the Alma because they are not a chef by any standards, I would imagine that this is not the only bad review, this use to be a good place to eat, but unfortunately this is not the case anymore. For the $70 plus for a meal for two people was a hard moment to pay for something that could of been brought at McDonald’s for a fraction of the price and twice the satisfaction. ZERO out of 10 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻. I would not recommend anyone to go and eat here.More

Our group of 13 old school mates (in our late 60's) had lunch here today (6.11.22). They weren't busy at that time, just 1 other couple & a table of 8 when we arrived for our 12 o'clock booking. Our orders were taken at 12:30...& I decided on the salmon. But by the time the waitress got to me (number 11) there was no salmon left - waitress said that 2 people at our table had ordered salmon and thay both came off the same fish so there was none left. WHAT??? I ended up ordering Fish of the Day from the seniors menu - it was horrible, the chips were okay though. The service was so slow (Meals dribbled out at 1:40) & food not worth the wait. Luckily, I was given a bread roll to quell my hunger, but, you can only have a bread roll IF you order from the seniors menu - again - WHAT!!! Were we on another planet? One lady did say that the Salmon Patties were very good. My husband's meal was one of the elusive salmon dishes, off the specials board - had to go on a hunting expedition to find that sneaky salmon though. We estimated there was about 1 tablespoon of salmon in the dish. Berry crumble for dessert was actually Apple Crumble with 2 blueberries in it, however it did taste nice. The staff seemed flustered & not in control. Twice they brought the wrong meals to our table & didn't seem to believe that no-one had ordered those dishes. Very disappointing, get your act together guys.More

I often have a pub lunch here and it's always great, so we decided to take our staff there for Melbourne Cup lunch. The lamb rump was almost "blue" it was so rare and the cut of meat was full of sinu and way too...tuff to eat. Staff, on the other hand were very attentative and offered (although a bit late) to make another dish however we were ready for desert by this stage and had to return to work. In future I'll stick to the pub meals and give the restaurant a miss for staff gatherings.More

Food is very average pub food. I had a pizza I didn't really enjoy, everyone else had the usual '+chips' meals which were eaten. While the food is nothing great they do good evening activities such as quiz night and bingo which are worth attending.

Went for a meal and to watch footy. Restaurant staff very friendly and made us feel welcome and at home. Bar staff only seemed interested in anyone young so made for an uncomfortable experience when ordering drinks at the counter. Also didn’t feel like much...of a priority and was left to wait for lengthy periods of time. Hubby and I ordered share plate and son had schnitzel. Meals were amazing. I would give the Alma five stars however unfortunately some staff let the place down. I’ll be back though. The share platter was incredible.More

My wife and I visited the Alma Hotel in Norwood last night. We had been there several times, and quite liked the atmosphere, and the menu. The time before last, the service was so slow they must have been ready to serve dinner before we...finished lunch. Last night we waited over 40 minutes for two serves of fish. Not going back there. On the plus side, waitress Kara was brilliant.More

Our Plant based diet makes it harder to find a good restaurant. Alma Tavern didn't only provide us with a variety of choices, their options were all very enjoyable and tasty. It was a great experience for the 4 of us, which we WILL repeat...when given the chance. The service was polite, friendly and very efficient. Thanks so much for this great night.More
