I arrived at the village and was welcomed by smiles and a very happy/peaceful atmosphere. During my stay I was treated like family and anything I needed help with was taken care of. It was a great experience to learn about the people and their way of life. The food was incredible and they have an abundance of choices. I... More

I had two foreign business partners to visit this village in August 2015. We all had many surprises on how professional a group of Vietnamese ethnic minority people do an ecotourism. Owner and staff are all Tay people, very friendly, proactive in warmly welcoming visitors are always surrounded by green trees, therefore can easily enjoy fresh air in a peaceful... More

I stayed here for 2 nights with my mother (in her 80s) and 2 daughters. We were warmly welcomed and looked after beautifully for our whole visit. Everybody was friendly and helpful and we were always greeted with a smile. Long, who speaks excellent english, gave us a lot of his time and was happy to talk and to show... More

Been living fairly close to this location for 2 years and never knew of this place. Must visit if you find yourself in the area. As explained to me by the excellent English speaking manager, they are not angling so much at a commercial angle, but in preserving the Thai peoples cultures and ways. Nice wine on sale brewed on... We had a GPS to help us find this place and a bumpy road for awhile, but it was certainly worth it! Ironically, we went with a local family who lived in the province and had never been there. A very well done replica (with original 100 year old buildings - moved here). Opportunities to see how rice wine and... More

I didnt try the fish, esp. the fish caught right there locally in their own lake, but had wonderful chicken and pork dishes with water spinach. And... More

FANTASTIC!! This village and restaurant has been developed with proper attention being paid to the ancient traditions of the Tay People. There have been some necessary modifications to infrastructure to accommodate modern sanitary and comfort requirements but basically, it is traditional. My wife and I ate at this restaurant many time over a three week stay in Vietnam and can... More

My family and I stayed here a while back and we really enjoyed our stay. The food here is great!! There is a lot to choose from too. The accommodations are wonderful as well. The traditional houses are clean and safe. It is a bonus that they have great basic bathrooms with hot water. The beds are comfortable and clean... More

More than a restaurant and more than a homestay, the Thai Hai village is a working ethinic minority community located just outside of Thai Nguyen City, Vietnam. The restaurant specializes in delicious dishes of the Tay and Nung ethnic minority groups which are prepared from livestock and vegetables raised organically on the village farms. Visitors have the opportunity to not only enjoy the food, but to learn about traditional Tay life first hand. Guests can go out into the fields with the workers to see how the various plants are cultivated (including tea trees) and watch in the preparation of various foods. Visitors wanting a deeper experience are invited to stay for 1 or more nights in a Nha San – Tay traditional houses – some of which are over 70 years old. While the housing is traditional, it has been equipped with fans, lighting, etc. and clean bathrooms. The homestay is appropriate for individuals, small groups, or families looking for a rustic getway and visitors have the option of keeping to themselves or spending time out among the staff and workers.
