Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

6 of us had an early evening meal and drinks. All meals were excellent and good value, especially the steak and ale pie, which 3 of us ordered. We all agreed it was the best pie we had had in years and is to be...highly recommended. Staff very welcoming and friendly with excellent service. definitely go back again.More

Wonderful pub in Queen Camel, dates back to 1640, my wife had the most generous prawn cocktail I have ever seen, we both had the roast lunches, the cauliflower cheese was exceptional, you could really taste the cheese, attentive service, very nice pub to eat...inMore

A reasonable stopover. Nice to spend time in a pub where locals were welcoming. Having read some of the reviews, thought we were prepared for the church bells but the quarterly striking of the church clock inevitably impacted on the quality of our sleep!

I arrived late due to work but the owners and staff was so welcoming and helpful. I had an amazing meal in the company of some great locals. My room was lovely and very clean. I had to leave before breakfast so the landlady very...kindly left me a packed lunch to take with me, all inclusive of the very reasonable price. Next time im working in the area i will certainly return to the mildmay arms.More

Friendly accomodating pub. Very clean. I needed a quiet place to prepare for a job interview whilst on a camping holiday. We stumbled on mildmay by chance. Explained my predicament and that i would be there for a few hours and was welcomed warmly while...my son and husband went off to explore some local museums while i studied. I was able to use the wifi and order cappucinos at my leisure and ate some amazing garlic toast and mushrooms for lunch. Super english pub. I know the industry is struggling so please support this one if you are passing.More

Absolutely the best Sunday roast at the best price you could find. Had 2 x soup broccoli and Stilton which were rich and velvety. 2 x prawn cocktail which were the biggest ever, so tasty with lots of sauce for me but the kindly left...it off for my grandson. We then had 3 roast beef and one chicken. There must have been 5 slices of the best beef ever, with no fat. Rich gravy, roasties, a huge Yorkshire pud, then selection of veg, leeks, peas, carrots, cauliflower cheese, parsnips and another I can't remember. Kids managed a pudding too, a sticky toffee pudding with custard and chocolate brownie and ice cream. The dinner wasn't rushed which was great so we got to spend a lovely afternoon with yhe grandkids chatting and eating, needed a lie down afterwards so full. But that's what Sundays are for. Can't wait for our next visit.More

Called in for a Saturday lunch time meal, was advised to book but as we're expecting a couple of large parties, there was no more than 8 people in the pub when we arrived, or the duration, including us. Friendly on arrival, but no offer...of desert, bar man was more interested in chatting to a local customer, and waitress did not hang around to ask, she actually was not seen at all after food was placed on our table. Dirty cloudy vinegar bottles questions the overall cleanliness, although appeared clean to the eye.More

We received a friendly welcome. The landlord - Ian - went out of his way to find a wine we liked. Had a good pub meal and then over and above any expectations - Ian offered to drive us back to our camp site! Excellent,...friendly service from an outstanding village pub! Will return - will recommend! Thank you! XMore

Very good, bright and well maintained very spacious, clean and the team are friendly, welcoming and polite. The rooms are big and very well maintained with nice furnishings. The restaurant area is a lovely area to eat in. I would recommend that you call ahead...to book your table. The bar area is good and have a nice selection of drinks. We all had something to eat and I had the brie wedges, loved it. I'll be going back and I'll be taking my other half for a meal and evening out. They also have a nice and spacious garden that you can sit out in and relax. We were only going in for one and a bite to eat but ended up staying for a lot longer than we had planned. I would definitely recommend that you give the Mildmay Arms a try, you will not be disappointed. And it's a lot bigger than you think.More

Wow, just wow...what can I say (literally no words) popped in as we were looking at a house locally, and we like to know what our local would be like. Drinks were good, thank you Heineken and Stella, food, however was beyond a joke. We...had garlic mushrooms and prawns to start, and thank the lord theres no such thing as too much garlic because the mushrooms were swimming in it, the 'garlic bread' was AT LEAST a week old, and very stale, the prawns just thrown from the freezer into the fryer, certainly nothing fresh, as claimed throughout by the landlord. Mains, steak and chips, steak was cooked well in all fairness, but nothing tripple cooked about the chips as per the menu stated and salmon and hollandaise...now THIS is where the main issue lies. 1st salmon, pictured, would be great if I ordered sushi and scrambled egg...dish sent back and was refired with the promise it was grilled and not boiled...never have I heard such rubbish! 45 minutes later, I recieved an overboiled salmon fillet, with no sign of grill lines (it was nuked or boiled) and a split hollandaise. Save yourself the bother...and pop to burger king!More
