Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We dined in this restaurant in 2017 when the owner/chef was alive and six years later it was NOT THE SAME! The prices were very expensive and the quality of the food was not up to par. They were very busy that night and we...ordered chicken in a bladder as did other people did The chicken was over cooked and dry We did complain to deaf ears and felt pressured to leave a tip! We will not return!More

My husband and I are fans of Paul Bocuse and when we were in Lyon we decided we needed to make a point to eat at his restaurant. We wish we could have been there when he was still alive, but his passion for food...and perfection have for sure survived. The food was absolutely fantastic and the sommelier selected several bottles for us that were beautifully matched to our meal. Above all, was the service. Can't wait to go back for another amazing experience.More

You need to have this on your bucket list, because it is really one of the best restaurants in the world. Travel to Lyon just to try the food. First the warning: the place is pricy and prepare yourself for a 2 to 3 hour...dinner. Last time we were there we spent 3.5 hours. The food is delicious, the service is top-notch, and the wine list is obscenely large. I usually give the sommelier a budget for the wine bottle, and we always end up with an excellent bottle of wine. I recommend having the tasting menu, they have 3 or 4 of them, so you can try out different dishes. During winter they have the truffle soup which is unlike anything I have ever had. I can ramble on and on about the restaurant. A tip: if you are intimidated by French food, the place, or what to order; don't be. Just tell them you have no clue what to order, and the they will gladly explain the menu options.More

We enjoyed a beautiful meal at Paul Bocuse. We chose the Menu Bourgeois and asked to substitute the veal dish as neither of us eat sweetbread. The blue lobster was probably my favorite dish served from the bunch. I also want to note the substitution...was a lamb dish and it was the best lamb I have had. Usually I am not a lamb guy but this was not gamey at all and enjoyed it. This was among my bucket list places to visit so was quite pleased being there. Food was wonderful. Service was great. I don't know if I will ever return but will always remember it. Thank you to all who made such a wonderful meal possible from servers, to the chef and food preparers.More

This is an iconic restaurant and you should reserve 8-12 months prior. It is a once in a lifetime experience and if you don't eat at high end restaurants all the time, this is a great special occasion destination restaurant. It has all the pomp...and circumstance and if you treat it like a show performance, you get exceptional value for the money. I am not a food critic but I have eaten at many 1 star and some 2 & 3 star Michelin restaurants. Although the food presentation is exceptional and the food quality is quite good, in my opinion, I do not believe they will get back their 3rd star. If I am being honest, the food quality is more attune to a 1 star Michelin restaurant. We are talking food quality, not food presentation. All the dishes we had were good but nothing was exceptional. There were quite a few restaurants we ate it during our trip to France which had better dishes that Paul Bocuse but more variation. We had their signature wild sea bass stuffed in puff pastry presented tableside. Presentation: magnificent. Food taste: very good but not wow, the best I have ever tasted. Probably not even notable in my mind. Service was good but again not exceptional. Partly is because I did not speak French and I am sure wait staff is much more comfortable in French. I don't think Lyon gets as many international visitors as Paris so I would say the majority of the diners at the restaurant speak French. They have a set way of doing things and I think this has probably not changed for 30 years. However, any little variation, it seems like they can't really accommodate or adjust, which in my opinion, is the mark of a great 2 star and 3 star restaurant. I ordered more than one wine and wanted 2 wines served side by side and that seemed to confuse them. Pace was really fast for the first few courses and that was weird since they only have 1 sitting for each table (I think). We had to purposely eat slower to slow down the pace. All in all, still a wonderful experience. I would do it once in my life for the experience but I have no burning desire to go back. I have had better meals and a better overall experience in many other restaurants in the world and given the cost, the wait time for a reservation and the location outside of Lyon, there are many other alternatives.More

Absolutely divine. The legendary restaurant delivered haute cuisine like nothing I have ever experienced. The dishes weren't taking insane risks instead focusing on perfection and they delivered. The chef was kind enough to come out and meet us, I will ABSOLUTELY be returning.
