We made reservations last minute for New Years Eve. They were more than accommodating fitting us in at our desired time. They had a price fixe menu for the evening but still made accommodations for my taste preferences with just a few minor adjustments. Everything from the amuse-bouche to the dessert was truly spectacular. They welcomed us from the very beginning even though we were a bit late due to our hotel room not being ready at check in time (actually 2 hrs waiting for our room ) would highly recommend this quaint, intimate bistro to anyone visiting Sanibel. It is a must not miss restaurant on sanibel. We look forward to our next visit for another superb dining experience

Showed up with a friend without a reservation and we were lucky enough to get a seat at the bar, which gave us the added bonus of being able to watch the chefs prepare meals. Fun in itself, but the food was amazing. Our terrific waitress, Peggy, recommended the Boeuf Bourginion, which I ordered and was glad I did. My friend ordered the blanquette de Veau, which was equally as good. Large portions, a reasonable wine list and many meal options are great features. A particularly good deal is the early evening special if you can arrive by no later than 5:30. We’ll go back!

Wow, glad you were able to dine at the "Chef's Table" and enjoy the open kitchen concept of the bistro. It's fun to watch Chef Christian, Victor and Charlie in action. Arriving early gives you a little time to chat with the chef before the rush. Also, we are very happy that Peggy gave you terrific service! She's a wonderful young woman and a middle school teacher by day, indeed a busy lady!

Bleu Rendezvous Bistro is a French-style bistro, as the name implies.
It's conveniently located. The exterior looks much like many other buildings on Sanibel Island, but inside the atmosphere changes and the food is wonderful.
We were warmly greeted at the door. Bleu Rendezvous is run by a husband and wife team and I believe the wife also serves as the maitre'd, a practice I would recommend because she set the nice tone for the entire evening.
Our service was attentive and professional. Oddly, our waiter wasn't as friendly as we had encountered coming into the restaurant, but he certainly wasn't unfriendly and the quality of the service was very good. It may have been a personality thing.
In any case, out of alll of the restaurants we visited on Sanibel, the patrons around us here were having the best time. The atmosphere simply lent itself to an enjoyable evening.
The menu is predictably very French. And also very well prepared. We thought that the food quality was excellent.
On our way our, the second owner of the restaurant, the chef, warmly thanked us for visiting.
All-in-all, a very nice visit.

We are in Sanibel in January of each year and we’re looking forward to dinner at Blue Rendezvous because I love their cock a vIn and Beef bourginon. We asked for a table along the wall when we made reservations and were told that they would try yet could not promise a wall table because they were booked. . We arrived early and were the third group to arrive, and there was a table by the wall, though we were shown to a table in the center of the room. We asked if we could have the wall table instead, and were told it was booked. And the hostess/owner said if we were not happy with our table we could leave if we wanted to. So we sat there stunned for a moment realizing that we were about to spend a couple hundred dollars on dinner in a hot restaurant at a table we were not comfortable with and had been invited to leave by the owner.
So we left and will not be back. We wound up at a great restaurant on the beach, of which Sanibel has several, with a good table and a staff that was happy to have us. So the evening was saved.

As you may know we are a husband-wife team (French/American) that are always seeking to please our guests. Yes, if a guest is not happy for any reason at our bistro, you are free to leave without any resentment, it's a free country. I would never make you feel guilty. As you commented, you loved our food, yet you chose to use a public forum to degrade us. That's not nice at all. Our restaurant is very small so we cannot always accomodate 2 people at our wall tables that seat 4-8 guests. We had many reservations coming in within 1/2 hour and you were seated at our best table for 2, with side by side seating as close to the wall as possible so that your hearing impairment would be mitigated by your proximity to each other. In fact, you conversed and used your phone quite easily. So glad your evening was saved, but please consider your words before damning us. We are one of the only locally owned and personally operated restaurants on Sanibel Island. Did the restaurant you ended up going to have an owner that took your reservation, seated you and also an owner preparing your dinner? I think not, as I don't know of any owners that actually work in their own establishments here on Sanibel. This was my first time to the Bleu Rendezvous Bistro. I’ve been to a lot of french restaurants/bistros, so I had high hopes for this place. I selected on the most expensive entrees, the seafood Vol a Vent, in puff pastry. To my dismay, the dinner was extremely salty, to the extent I couldn’t finish it or even eat half. Such a disappointment!
In addition, this restaurant only serves beer and wine, no mixed drinks. I didn’t know this beforehand. A glass of wine was very expensive and not worth it.
I will not return.

Bonjour Ms. Paton, your group of 7 ladies seemed to all be very happy when I asked you all about dinner last night. There were 2 other ladies at your table that enjoyed that dish. If you did not like your meal you should have let me know so that I could substitute another dish. We are a husband and wife team that personally operate our small restaurant and aim to please every diner. Our French wine is priced $12 glass or $36 bottle which is in keeping with fair pricing. We do not serve hard liquor. It doesn’t pair to French cuisine. A liquor license in FL is not attainable because we are under 150 seats. Before you publicly criticize another small business like us, please consider talking to the server or the owner about your concern. Reservations are a must at this fine establishment, open only 16 hours a week, 5-9 pm Wednesday through Saturday. We visited on a Saturday at 6:30, the birthday dinner for my wife and advised the staff ahead of time of the event. More on that later. This small restaurant has a pleasing decor and helpful, friendly and efficient staff. We were seated right away with tables comfortably spaced apart. We rarely drink so a bottle of San Pelligrino ($9 large) was our beverage but just for fun, I had one of their Kir Royale specials, a bright and bubbly refreshment. My wife ordered the Escargot and I had the Lobster-got appetizer, both excellent and delivered bubbling hot. The mini warm rolls helped sop up the savory liquid. A small greens salad was next, very lightly dressed and super fresh. Then came the pompano filleted with tail on for my wife and beef bourguignon for me. Words almost fail me to describe the incredible flavors and perfect texture of both. A spoon is supplied with the latter should one wish to drink in the wonderful beef sauce. I opted for the last mini-roll to do the job. Dessert was a standard creme brulee and a silky chocolate mousse, both excellent. Timing of the service was spot on. My only complaint is that this wonderful establishment has been active on Sanibel for 7 years and we only just got around to trying it. That and the very weak acknowledgement of my wife's birthday (a single small candle alone on a plate, kind of an embarrassing attempt) but the server did remember to wish her a happy birthday. Perhaps if you have a special event, you might ask them to prepare your choice in advance or ask if you could bring your dessert for a plating fee. Long story short; nearly perfect. We will return. Total with tax $134. Money well spent, I'd say.

Mrs. FussBudget & I continued on our relentless culinary cavalcade through Sanibel this week and tonight we selected Bleu Rendez-Vous French Bistro for dinner. They require reservations so we opted for an available early 5 pm seating. This quaint bistro accommodates approximately 60 or so with additional bar seating of 8 high top chairs for patrons who might otherwise enjoy watching the (very highly talented) owner / chef prepare the evening's fare. We were greeted promptly on arrival by the owner's Wife who was quite pleasant and welcoming. The bistro is very (very) clean, nicely decorated with a tasteful French theme, lovely tablecloths and fine dining place settings. Himalayan pink salt on the tables was a nice touch and a FussBudget healthy favorite. First impression: we felt super-duper comfortable, relaxed, and appreciated as customers.
Our server Isabel started us off on the right foot, happily explaining to us first timers at the bistro all the options and nuances which we appreciated. She carefully pointed out several budget friendly "early specials" so we would not miss them which was much appreciated. We studied the menu, and selected from the main offerings. Mrs. FussBudget ordered the escargot appetizer and the house pinot noir to start. I chose Sanibel's finest tap water (a typical FussBudget choice). Mrs. FussBudget coaxed me into trying the escargot after years of previous steadfast refusals on my part). Huh. Actually, it was pretty darn garlicky good. Maybe I'll try 'em again someday.
Dinner for Mrs. was Veal Marengo and I opted for the Beef Bourguignon. Delicious French bread rolls with butter were served along with included house salad (vinaigrette is the sole choice of dressing). The food was amazingly délicieuse and well worth stretching the upper FussBudget limits. We had no room for desert, which I'm certain would be excellent also. We will definitely return. All in, before tax and tip was $107 - Mrs. so enjoyed the house pinot noir she had a 2nd. So 2 awesome entrees, and appy and 2 vinos for $107. Not bad, and I'll add the flavor was so outstanding it was well worth the excellent evening we had. Kudos BRVFB!!

Chef Christian and Partner Mari do such an excellent job every single time! We live on the island six months a year and eat at their establishment regularly. We have never had a bad or even mediocre meal. The vol au vent is excellent, sweetbreads are delicious, hanger steak, onion soup and lobster bisque....everything is some of the best we ever had! The wine selection is excellent and their recommendations are always spot on. The creme brûlée and the silk pie are consistently delicious. We would be remiss if we didn’t acknowledge the terrific job they have done for island residents and visitors during the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020. Their no-touch curbside pick-up and regular meal specials made our quarantine not just bearable but downright civilized. We’ll be returning again and again and again!

While looking around for a Saturday dinner spot, we came upon reviews for Bleu Rendezvous Bistro. First time diners here and wish we had found it earlier in our visit because it was wonderful! Reservation recommended and easily made. Met at the door by Mari and immediately seated. Our server could not have been more friendly or helpful throughout dinner. 2 dinners, started with a shared lobster appetizer which was ample and delicious, especially with the warm bread to dunk. Dinners were hogfish and veal, both excellent. Actually, best and most unique veal dish I ever had. Served with truffle fries and vegetables which were spaghetti squash and a red cabbage dish, both delicious. Shared a bottle of wine and split dessert of apple galette with 2 glasses of port. Definitely a very special fine dining experience, from start to finish! The only regret is (as stated initially), wish we had found Bleu Rendezvous earlier in our visit to Sanibel!!

With Covid numbers on the rise, we were especially pleased to learn that the Bleu Rende Vous dinner for two Beef Bourguignon special was available for takeout. What a treat and Mon Dieu, what a bargain! For the measly price of $69 (and please remember to add a tip, thank you) Hubby and I split a salad of fresh greens with a piquant balsamic vinaigrette dressing and two generous, hot portions of beef bourguignon accompanied by warm, crusty rolls. The crowning touch was the excellent bottle of wine, a grenache syrah, which perfectly complemented the beef dish.
After a long day at the beach, it was a pleasure to dine in on quality food and enjoy an excellent bottle of wine. Kudos to Bleu Rende Vous. We shall return!

We returned to this lovely gem on Sanibel. The owners made us feel very safe during this time of covid? So clean and tables spaced. The menu is a problem, so many great choices! It is so good that you are obligated to return. The house wines are excellent and nicely priced. Our server, Jade, made us feel comfortable. She insured that a member of our party with a food allergy, was able to trust the items brought to our table. Don’t miss Bleu Rendezvous, either take away or dining in.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at the Bleu Rendezvous in Sanibel. Owner Mari was very welcoming. Excellent quality food. The appetizers we ordered including the escargot and the onion soup were delicious and the fillets we ordered were cooked to perfection and were of excellent quality. The accompanying truffle fries were maybe the best fries we've ever eaten. Nice wine list and several affordable options including many bottles under $40. A couple of tables outside on the patio but the tables inside are well spaced. The dining room is cutely decorated with a French bistro theme and the atmosphere is upscale casual. Our server was friendly, professional and attentive. I would not miss eating here when visiting Sanibel. Not an inexpensive option but well worth the dining experience. Reservations are required.

We visited this restaurant twice during our stay on Sanibel this year. The first time it was kind of OK, although the french fries are definitely coming out of the freezer. The coq au vin was too salty but for the rest OK. We went a second time hoping the food would improve. It was much worse: my husband had a miserable cut piece of filet. He ordered medium-rare but it came very rare...I had duck and also that was too rare for duck. Also the seasoning on the duck was completely forgotten. Me, being french, know the french cuisine very well and I must say, I can cook it better myself than in this restaurant. We come to Sanibel quite often, but I don‘t think we will try this restaurant again.

From your words, I surmise that you are French born and a tourist here on Sanibel Island. You came twice to a restaurant that you did not like? Indeed surprising! We make a point of checking with diners during the meal and apparently you didnt state that you had any issues. We have only received the highest praises for our Coq Au Vin that our Parisian Chef Christian prepares with care. If you do not use salt in your own cooking, your doctor may have you on a low sodium diet, therefore, your tastebuds may not be used to this magical seasoning. Our Truffle Frites are cooked in peanut oil, and we use sea salt and truffle oil to make them simply irresistable and they are also constantly receiving rave reviews. Yes, we freeze them in advance as they are not freshly cut to order each night. Filet Mignon was not the cut that you expected? Why didnt you voice your concern to your server or myself when we inquired on your dinner? We would have cheerfully cooked your duck to your desired temperature and added more Orange Sauce if requested. In conclusion, cook for yourself, and if you are indeed French born and raised, I am sure you will enjoy your own home cooked cuisine more than any restaurant. And certainly, please do not come back, you have set your mind against our food, the mind can be a mysterious place and once an idea is formed, it can rarely be changed! Best wishes to you in 2020! Always a smile and friendly greeting from Hostess Mari when you arrive. Tables properly distanced and tableware polished to exceed guidelines. We have been coming monthly for more than a year and everything on the menu is delicious. Last meal was the special of the day veal dish (tender, flavorful, plenty of veal) and my wife's favorite trout almondine (light and tasty). You can sit at the dinner bar and watch Chef Christian prepare your meal (and all other meals too) - nice touch. We enjoy the mediterranean interior design with sanibel flair too. My wife and I always split a desert and we still can't agree on which we like best - Mari's Favorite French Sundae or Christian's Heavenly Chocolate Mousse - you can't go wrong!

From the moment I placed my order for ‘curbside pickup’ I was happily anticipating my dinner & all was wonderful. We opted for the dinner special for two, Wednesday night it was trout almandine with potatoes & green beans, rolls & the freshest salad, excellent. The portions were large & the accompanying bottle of French Rose very, very good.
If you want to give yourself a treat during these difficult times Bleu Rendezvous Bistro will definitely lift your spirits.
