First time at the Royal Oak, Eydon, but worth discovering as it's off the beaten track. It's along time since I have visited a pub so friendly. Matt, Holly and their staff could not have been more helpful. Tuesday night is burger and gin night! Burgers were the best I personally have ever tasted. The gin was a clever and... More

Having visited the Royal Oak about 6 times in the last few years I can truly say that the food has been fantastic every time, I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

We had heard of a new chef at the Royal Oak so thought we would give it a try and we were certainly pleased we did. Not only was the food excellent we were looked after extremely well by a gentleman called Henry. Nothing was too much trouble for Henry, if only all pub staff were like him! The food... More

Yes, you won't drive past it by accident. Yes, you could say it's small and has not a lot of outside space ... but there are not many pubs like it. Worth a detour as Matty and Holly are absolutely fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they do smaller food portions for children. Beers are consistently excellent. If... More

A lovely quent small village pub in the middle of the countryside. Lovely log fire and food is of a high quality. Can be busy on a Friday night but this only adds to the atmosphere. After a long walk in the winter countryside this pub with an open log fire is a welcome retreat.

There is a new management team and chef in place so we gave it a try, the menu is less fine dining than it was previously but has a great selection from soups, fish, steaks and veggie options. We decided on rib eye, linguini and steak & Guinness pie which was a proper pie baked in situ all absolutely delicious... More

Dropped in for lunch for the second time in four months - we live too far away to be really regular visitors here - and again enjoyed some excellent food and drink in a welcoming atmosphere. Delicious cod and hake and a very pleasant rice pudding (which we shared). Also very pleased to see that (well-behaved) dogs are welcome in... More

Whilst staying in the area for a few days we booked dinner at the Royal Oak and couldn't have enjoyed it more. Pleasant, friendly atmosphere and a good mix with people dining and others popping in for a pint - hasn't been over-gentrified thus retaining a genuine village pub feel. The food was fabulous - prawn cocktail and tomato soup... More
