The Black Bear in Wool has recently been awarded CAMRA Best Pub in the area, and rightfully so. It is a very local pub which is very friendly and is a free house with a changing number of real ales and normally a selection of four. It is the domain of Mel the landlady who, on the evening we went... More

Just eaten the nicest chicken curry followed by New Forest ice cream. The food and ever changing real ales make the Black Bear a location we return to again and again. Mel and her team offer a warm welcome to locals and tourists like us. If you're in Dorset and visiting Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove or Monkey World then the... More

Visited Wool for the weekend to see Lulworth Cove and Monkey World and ate here both nights. It was a really nice pub with a lot of atmosphere and was very busy on a Friday night. The food was fantastic, just what you want from a pub with really good gammon and chips. My favourite was the mushroom wellington, which... More

This is a lovely village pub popular with locals and tourists. It's a free house which had three real ales on tap including Liberation Ale from Jersey. Being a Saturday evening we booked a table in the restaurant. The menu was varied including vegetarian options and all at reasonably priced, there was a specials board as well. Very polite, efficient... More

We went to this little pub for lunch and just loved it! Beautifully positioned within the village.... Great food and service all whilst a wake was going on and around recently placed Halloween decorations! We were made very welcome and the atmosphere was charming considering the circumstances. Food was homely and delicious! We are going back for Sunday night Irish... More

After a visit to Monkey World we were going to drive home but decided to find some lunch locally first, a quick look on the trip advisor app on the phone pointed us here. A pleasant village pub serving food all day. We had a jacket potato and a hot baguette with a couple of soft drinks. Service was prompt... More

Visited the Black Bear a few times for a meal while holidaying in the area again recently. The food is still the best to be had around and now the pub is a free house the beers change regularly. Prices are very reasonable for food and drink. Strongly recommended to visitors and anyone staying nearby.
