We visited here 3 times during our week holiday in the new forest. The staff were friendly and welcoming with a great sense of humour. One day we won free hugs and desserts in a raffle for Macmillan charity. We had sandwiches one lunchtime, which were tasty and good portions. The rosemary salted chips are a must try! Also there... Lovely pub. Dogs are allowed in the bar, Furniture was a bit old and rickety and the food was basic but delicious with very reasonable prices

Surprised to find such a nice Vegan and Vegetarian menu, a good variety of options and big portions so I thought it was good value for money.

Nice beer and good food including some a less than a fiver for lunch - exceptional for this area. We sat outside with the dog and the place was quite busy on a Sunday lunch. The service was good and reasonably quick.

The Queens Head, Burley, is a busy, noisy town pub with little atmosphere, a tired décor and loud piped music. The first surprise comes in the car park where you have to pay (1 hr. £0.80p, 2 hrs. £1.50 when we visited). Inside, there are many small bar areas plus a large restaurant. The food from the main menu, mainly... More

Description
The Queens Head is situated some six miles from the nearest town in the very picturesque village of Burley, on the edge of the New Forest. We are a country pub with country ways attracting clientele who enjoy seeing the wildlife and variety of animals in the surrounding fields. These include deer, ponies, cows and donkeys. The pub dates back to 1645 and is rumoured to be an old smugglers haunt. This was reinforced when, during a refurbishment, treasures like old pistols, coins and bottles were uncovered here. There is also an alleged underground tunnel running between Burley Manor public house and this one. The front of the building has never been changed and inside has retained original features from at least 100 years ago. With alcoves, nooks and crannies, you can hide away and enjoy a quiet drink or meal. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant or outside in the garden during the summer months. This is a lovely old pub frequented by really friendly local characters and passers by alike.
