I consulted trip advisor for somewhere to go for lunch and found The Sailor's return well recommended. We were not disappointed. As a family run pub it had a friendly local feel and the staff were all as helpful as could be. It has a cosy rustic decor, local beers and ciders and the food was excellent. The menu had... More

Combines charm of being a genuine pub but with good food. Excellent menu, good wine list and choice of beers. Staff excellent.

We sometimes stop in on a Sunday after walking the dog. I always have the Steak and Ale pie, it's the best I've ever had! The staff and owners are always friendly. Well worth a visit!

Nipped in after a coastal walk. Nice looking pub, friendly staff and very tasty food. No complaints at all except we all agree it was quite chilly. This really didn't spoil our enjoyment. Good beers and we would look forward to returning. Thanks

After viewing the photos and reviews we thought this place would be a great spot to head to for lunch after a good walk along the coastal path, unfortunately it wasn't. The food, frosty welcome from one of the two landlords and general feel of the place was really poor. As we had the dog with us we sat in... More

Thank you for your feedback. I am very sorry to read your thoughts. Saturday lunch was full and unfortunately the only seats left available were on the sofa, where we were more than happy to cater for you. I am sorry if you didn't like the bar atmosphere.. We have high standards, (and certainly do not use 'burger van baps!',... More

Good traditional village pub with lively bar & separate restaurant. The Steak & Ale pies were very good & the Chicken Tikka Patties to start were tasty too & a bit different. The only criticism would be that it was a little on the chilly side - not conducive to a long lingering meal - once the hunger had been... More

We arrived a few minutes before dinner was over but the staff was very friendly and didn't rush us at all. The food was great, nicer pub food. I had a delicious whole fish. There were several casks available and they had one of the best I tried on our entire trip to the U.K. Looked like a lot of... More

We were recommended to eat here by Andrew at Cheriton House and turned up one evening without booking, the staff were nevertheless helpful and welcoming. We were very lucky as we only had to wait for 10 minutes or so and it was very busy. The food was excellent and my wife said it was the best pie she had... More

It took a while to find this rather remote pub/restaurant situated down a long and narrow country lane. Plenty of parking and the entrance is through a modernised ‘old-look’ bar where a few people were drinking. With a pleasant welcome from staff behind the bar, we were taken through several small and cosy rooms to the far end dining area.... More

popped in here for an evening meal by chance as we were staying in nearby Lulworth, And wow! what a stroke of luck the choice was excellent and the food even better,in fact so good we went back the following evening too. The only shame is it's not nearer to home as I'd of liked to work my way through... More
