Heard good reviews of the Anchor so decided to visit for a Sunday roast dinner. Welcomed on arrival and shown to a nicely set out table in pleasant surroundings. We ordered drinks which did not arrive until another waitress asked if we had ordered and promised to " hurry them up ". My roast beef duly arrived and requested mustard... More

Over all the food is very good, large portions and every thing well cooked and seasoned. The staff are friendly and happy to please. Unfortunately the advertised black pudding and potato cake starter was more: Potato bon bon with a minor hint of black pudding aroma. Some what disappointed being a black pudding fan hailing from the home of black... More

Had been here before and it was ok.This time not so good.If the fish was fresh,it must have been overcooked. And beer batter in normally better than this. The mushy peas were dry,and the chips tasted as if they weren't freshly cooked. The chicken in the chicken course was so tough as to be inedible. After telling the waitress, we got a... More

We used to visit the Anchor Inn on a semi regular basis many moons ago, and haven't visited for some time. I drive past on a weekly basis and have long been meaning to visit. Last night, thanks to the manager fitting us in at late notice, my wife and I accompanied by three family members enjoyed a very good... More

The Anchor do an early menu , 12-6 p.m. so we went along to try it. Was very disappointed in the few things on this menu for 2 courses at £11.95. We ordered the garlic mushrooms on toast. I dont like soggy toast so asked for the toast separate. It came with dry toast. I had to get up and... More

Had a meal at the Anchor last night, it was one of the specials. It was so tasty - roasted salmon with saffron mash, asparagus and butternut squash, yummy! Service brilliant, staff so friendly and helpful. I am so glad it is on our doorstep!

We recently visited The Anchor for Sunday lunch. Could not fault the food or the service. We had the roast beef which was delicious as were the vegetables and all the trimmings. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the pub itself had a lovely ambience. We will definitely be back again to try the daily menu. Thank you... More

Low lighting for that cosy relaxing feeling with olde feel decor. Lovely traditional delicious food. Calm atmosphere. Lovely helpful staff that take there time to talk to you and the younger members of the family. This was our 1st time visiting, the duty manager served us, spoke to and laughed with both of my young daughters, which I thought was... More
