Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We all love a good strong coffee, yummy food made with love and family friend vibes. This place has it all.
Yes there’s Reno’s happening but very low key. Doesn’t disturb the experience at all.
Huge deck verandah out back and gorgeous fig tree for the kids.
This place makes Clunes a destination. Without it you’d just drive right through so make sure you stop.
Super cute

Busy hub for cafe style food of high home made quality. Almost always busy is a good sign and merry band of staff provide quick service. Interesting well stocked food and grocery store and post office. A find!

Dropped in while exploring Clunes village. Was impressed by the range of deli offerings. The cellar had some interesting and reasonably priced wines.
As we were on our way to lunch just had a browse of the cafe menu. It had the usual far so will likely try next time we are in the area.

The cafe looks old and worn and the atmosphere was not welcoming. The menu was limited and wasn’t explained as upon approaching the front counter it appeared there were more options. I ordered my meal for my table and food was delivered to my guest only, I waited for 20 minutes and approached the front counter and asked about where my order was. The reply was “ I will get it now”. I returned to my table, the location was freezing cold and waited another 30 minutes. I approached the front counter and said I’m leaving and would like my payment returned. They asked if I wanted my meal they would get it now, I said no thanks I have been waiting an hour and I’m leaving. The staff returned my money and I left. This is the first time at this cafe and I will never return.

Love stopping in at the Clunes Store, great brekky, coffee, chai tea and a great atmosphere. It can get pretty busy but the service is good so there's not much waiting. Besides, there's always someone there to talk to!

Can’t comment on the cafe section as that had closed at 2pm - but the deli store had some good food to have on the go and a cold drink. The deli itself was well stocked with fresh produce and had welcoming staff.

If you’re looking for anything beyond a sad B&E burger with overcooked egg and burnt bacon or a reheated stale sandwich this isn’t the place for you
Even the ‘hero’ toastie could not save me from my own disappointment

When on holiday you look for places that locals love. Clunes has such a places and how lucky are they. Kid friendly, dog friendly, where everyone is treated as a local. Really good food and great coffee at great prices. Ash and the other friendly staff make your visit like visiting friends. A gem and a must visit.

The café has recently been significantly upgraded and became a great spot. I've been a regular there 2-3 times a week since 2016.
The previous owners built a great crew and worked hard to make the café a real destination. Following a recent change of management and the recent departure of key café staff I think the venue needs time to regroup. Since the changeover, the coffees have been a bit of a hit and miss affair but I can forgive that. Last Sunday however my meal did not resemble the Bacon and Egg Roll I'd ordered. Both the egg and most of the bacon were actually on the plate but concealed by the top half of the bun. The yolk had broken and was cold and congealing on the plate before it was served. The capuccino was weak and milky and visually could best be described as a latté with a thin head - which is also a constant on most recent Sundays. I recognise that new ownership brings changes and it is regrettable that most of the senior front of house staff walked very quickly after the change. I'll give it another chance but I'll wait a few months to allow the new ownership to get the staff situation sorted. Good luck. I hope you can bring it back.

The range and quality of products offered by this store is quite frankly amazing!
Great emphasis is placed on locally grown/made and it really is a community hub.
The cafe is currently undergoing a major reno so it will be a wonderful end result there, no doubt.
They have these amazing Japanese travelling gyoza people two nights a week if you feel like take-away gyoza for dinner and a travelling wood-fired pizza guy one night per week who makes the most amazing pizza you’ve ever tasted!
I could go on and on about how unique and wonderful this store is and never run out of positive superlatives.
Whomever is responsible for this business is an absolute genius!
I’ve been to numerous mixed-business/general stores but none can come even close to the Clunes Store & Cellars in any category. It’s just brilliant! Can’t wait for the cafe to re-open as it’s definitely a ‘destination’ establishment...well worth the drive. Plus, there’s several varieties of amazing fresh, locally made ravioli they stock which I’m yet to work my way through!:-)

We had coffee here a couple of times on our recent trip. Both times the coffee was excellent. We didn't try any of the food, but it did look amazing.

A great little collective. The general store has all your staples and so much more. Lots of local veg, honey, nuts.....everything you need really. The cafe has a cruisy vibe with delicious, healthy food and great coffee. There is a bottle shop next door with a good selection of beer and wine....... bonus!!!! Grab a beer and have it with your meal. What more do you need?
