Always enjoy their coffee. Always busy. Car park entry a disgrace. Full of pot holes. Time for some repairs.
This has been a convenient location for our family to meet up occasionally. Yesterday six of us were there for brunch. Two of us had the cheese scones which looked golden and nice but they turned out to be virtually inedible stodge! Looking at the...other scones they all looked like they had been made from the same bulk batch of dough, so gave them a miss. In lieu of cheese scones, tried a Christmas mince pie but this was an epic fail too as the mince was very dry and hard - like they had been baked in the early part of the Christmas Season back in November - horrible! To cap it off, the coffee was not hot and the staff were demonstrably grumpy and unhelpful. On a more positive note, those of us who had a meal fared much better with the mushroom dish and tacos being OK. On reflection, I now recall that sampling’s of the Cheese scones on a previous occasion had been sub standard too. I had forgotten and had to relearn the lesson!.More
Always have driven past this cafe but stopped for coffee and scone. Great direction of food, coffee is great. Very busy in the weekends
Very convenient location on your way from Kapiti Coast to Masterton. We stopped here for lunch. Very appealing cabinet food, huge variety, and nice blackboard menue. We opted for scrambled eggs and salmon and veggie breakfast. The portions were big and everything very tasty. Coffee...was good and strong. What a great place. Highly recommendMore
The food is generally good (although a bit overpriced) and the coffee is great. However, they do not want you to bring your baby as there are no highchairs. First cafe I've ever been to that doesn't have them! They used to. Also they have...picnic tables that are not very comfortable.More
Enjoy coffee. Great barista in residence. No coffee card. Cabinet food has too much sugar. Some very thick icing which puts me off. Bit pricey. Menu food looked good.
Friends and I often make the drive to Ground Up. Always busy, good vibe in what feels like a semi-rural setting. Mix of indoor/outdoor seats, heated.
We were dashing home after a busy afternoon and he fancied a pie for a late lunch. At 4.00pm I thought this great cafe would be closed but no. The cabinets were still stacked with fabulous looking food, cakes and muffins and scones. The blackboard...menu looked interesting too and customers kept drifting in for coffees etc. Unfortunately there were no pies but I spied some giant sausage rolls that looked delicious. These were heated for me, placed on a paper plate and accompanied with two squeeze tubes of tomato sauce plus serviettes. Perfect for eating on the run. The sausage rolls were full of meat and vege and thinly covered in crisp pastry. He really enjoyed his and so did I. It was obvious that the sausage rolls had not been microwaved. Much nicer than a pie too. The staff here are efficient and friendly. We will be back for a sit down lunch.More
I have always enjoyed my breakfasts here but dont think I will rush back - got a $2 surcharge fee added to my $18 meal breakfast cos I wanted to change the topping - and then plastic cups! The water tasted awful like mould
