Decided to try Selam tonight. I've had Ethiopian cuisine before in Calgary. This place, food wise exceeded my expectations. We had the Traditional experience platter. It's not on the menu we got, but we saw it on the Zomato. Everything was well prepared and delicious. And the coffee was great. The restaurant was uninspiring, and they had the radio on... More

I go here for the delicious lunch buffet. I enjoy the food so much. In the evening there is a menu to choose such wonderful African delights to tempt your taste buds. Upstairs is a Hookah lounge. I went up there to take a gander, but did not stay. It seemed to be a relaxing and warm place. They do... More

Went for dinner with my companion and a work colleague. We were basically the only customers in the place. Service was slow and inefficent. We asked what beer they had (only three kinds) and when she came back she said they were out of one of the three. We ordered food and were told they had no lamb and that... More

The variety of items on the lunch buffet was great. Many of the dishes had great flavour, and everyone at our table enjoyed the food. A few of the dishes were not very warm, which would probably be my main complaint with the meal. Also, the cleanliness of the restaurant may be an issue for some diners. I was able... More

As an authentic Ethiopian restaurant run by the original owners for 15 years, this restaurant has well stood the test of time. The lunch buffet offers a variety of savory meats, legumes and vegetables -- delicious and satisfying. Though the ingeera bread has wandered from what might be the original recipe, it is tasty. An east Indian friend joined me... More

I love coming here for lunch. Their buffet is great, the food is always fresh and hot. There are 6/9 hot dishes that are vegetarian. They always serve a fresh salad and the Ethiopian style bread. My favourite is the cabbage / potato / carrot dish and the red lentils. Sometimes I find the insense a bit too strong but... More

I always enjoy the food at Selam especially since there are many vegetarian options. However, the restaurant is the most dirtiest/unclean restaurant that I have ever been in. The tablecloths have food from previous meals, the floors and bathroom filthy. I'm o.k with an older building and I don't even consider myself a "clean freak" but we just couldn't help... More

There was tiny pieces of bone in the beef that almost cracked a tooth. The waitress was knowledgeable however she came to our table once and we need drink refills. The waitress was wearing strong floral perfume that when she came near it made the food taste like her perfume. They did nothing but say "sorry, it would be a... More

Selam is an authentic Ethiopian restaurant. The noon buffet of various dishes, some with meat many just vegetables is excellent and very close to the real thing you would experience in Ethiopia. The injera is not quite as sourdough-ish as you get there but still very good. The Canadian meat is significantly more tender though! If you have never eaten... More

If you are tired of standard North American menu I suggest trying this restaurant for a change. Flavors are very original and eating with your hands makes everything taste even better!

Thank Temperatura
