Sitting in the Cafe St-Malo brought to mind all the positives of a Parisian cafe. Traditional French food and considerate service with a true Parisian ambiance. This restaurant is a warm gem and the dishes (duck confit, steak frites, Pot a feu du la mer) were prepared beautifully. Add to that the wonderful bagettes and creamy creme brulee to equal... More

Vegetable soup was flavorful with good assortment of vegetables. Seafood stew was excellent, full of a wide assortment of fresh seafood in a tasty broth reasonably priced. The lamb shank confeit with frites and salad was perfectly prepared and sumptuous. The yellow cake in a carmel and fresh rasberry sauce was a great desert, light and not overly sweet.

After reading all the reviews on Trip Advisor my husband and I decided to go to this restaurant for our anniversary. We made reservations but being the off season they were not necessary. We had our pick of tables, but unfortunately the fireplace was not in use so we picked a window table. The service was very good, but I... More

My husband and I visited Cafe St. Malo last week after pouring through Trip Advisor reviews on numerous restaurants in Old Quebec City. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and very conducive for dinner out on a cool April evening. Our waitress was pleasant and efficient, although probably the least friendly of any servers we encountered during our stay in... More

Cafe St-Malo is a traditional bistro. Both food and service was very good. Unfortunately for the restaurant world, it was our server's last night before he embarked on a second career as an engineer.

Wanted to have cassoulet for lunch, and had heard that theirs is one of the best. Very quaint and cozy place. Waiter was friendly and spoke English. I ordered the cassoulet, which was amazing! Heard they import their white beans from France! My husband had the seafood stew, it was superb! The broth was so tasty and very generous amount... More

Café St.-Malo at the rue St. Paul in lower part of Old Quebec, is a little gastronomical gem (although I can’t say it’s “undiscovered”, because tables are not easy to come by…) that I used to frequent 20 years ago when I had a short research appointment at Université Laval. I have just visited Quebec City again hoping it was... More

Great cozy little restaurant. Fantastic server - very friendly and fluent in English in addition to French. Were seated immediately and got us drinks and bread very quickly. Went with the house wine and it was much better than I have learned to expect. We had the Seafood stew (very similar to bouillabaisse) and the cassoulet - both excellent for... More

Small cozy place with a wood burning fireplace. Server was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the escargot, venison ravioli, duck confit, and rabbit stew. Escargot was pretty good. Would not order the ravioli again. Duck confit was tasty. Rabbit stew was very flavorful and came with yummy veggies. Add a bottle of wine and a dessert and it cost... More
