If you wish to try traditional Canadian far, this is the place to go! Housed in on of Quebec's oldest buildngs, Aux Anciens Canadiens offered an impressive menu of foods we had never before seen, so that alone is well worth the visit.

Quebec fare in a charming former historic home. Every room has a fireplace. Fare is quite simple, but good. Not great.

Our hotel clerk told us this was the best place for "old school Quebec food". He put it as food you would have at your grandmother's house. Well it was as good as grandma's cooking also. Yum! We had the pre fixe meal for $19.99 it comes with an appetizer, entre and dessert along with a glass of wine or... More

While walking and exploring the city we came upon this lovely place. The sign attracted us, I must admit as did the cute exterior. We had already made dinner plans but put it on our list for another evening. They have a complete meal for $19.99 if you arrive prior to 6:00pm. So we dined earlier in the evening than... More

As tourists in Quebec City, we made reservations for Christmas dinner at Aux Anciens Canadiens. Unfortunately, we found the food to be very disappointing. For example, the escargot was tasteless; the traditional pea soup was watery; the entree of wild game filet was served not sufficiently hot; and the beef wellington was served inside a soggy pastry. Due to the... More

We were concerned about the early meal price offered but decided to take a chance. Food was very good - remembered this is old world style so it may be a bit different. Location inside the city wall was perfect as was the atmospheric. Early meal price was a very reasonable for the area and when we left there was... More

For one price, you get a soup or salad, entrée, dessert and a glass of wine. We went at lunch time for $19.00! The food was very good and the setting a 1700's building. The also have many things other than the table d'hote like elk, buffalo, duck, rabbit etc. Quite a varied menu.

(NB: Based on a single visit, New Years Eve). Tourist tap with generally good reputation for traditional Quebec cuisine. Based on our experience would not recommend. Food varied from poor (roast chicken was very dry and small portion ), to good (meat pie Lac St Jean), but was mostly indifferent. Some plates are large portions, some aren't – ask your... More

Wandering around the main touristy area of of Quebec City, we were enticed into this place by the prix-fixe menu for $20, including a soup, beer/wine, main and dessert - with some menu items increasing the price if ordered. The atmosphere is very quaint and homey. We ended up with the pea soup and French onion soup, a chicken and... More

While visiting QC over Christmas, we had dinner at Aux Anciens Canadiens on Christmas Eve. We had an early dinner, but it was a bonus since you could enjoy their fixed price dinner menu for only $19.95CA (before 6 pm). The restaurant was cozy; beautifully decorated for Christmas; warm and friendly servers - everything we wanted for a special Christmas... More
