I have been visiting Bati Bassak on a regular basis for over a decade now. In recent years, the restaurant has had a major overhaul, while maintaining not only its authenticity and flavourful original recipes, but also its reasonable prices and BYOB formula. The restaurant is very popular with locals and filled pretty much every day of the week (except... More

We had our first meal in Quebec city at Bati Bassak, and while not exactly local cuisine, it was exotic and tasty! Being the ignorant tourists that we are, we were unaware that the restaurant was BYOB, like many others in the vicinity, as we later found out. But the service and the food were exceptional. I would highly recommend... More

I am not a big fan of Thai food...maybe because I have never really had good Thai food, at least until today. Honestly, when I read some of the previous reviews, I was somewhat skeptical, thinking it can't be THAT good. Well, my wife wanted to try this place so I gave in (remember, I'm not a big Thai food... Nice staff & service but the food was just ok Thai food - nothing like the reviews suggested. And BYOB which we didn't realise. Not expensive & big helpings but the food was just not that exciting

Just a helpful tip, Bati Bassak is BYOB This is not your ordinary Cambodian/Thai food. So far, it was one of the best meals that I have had in Quebec City! I recommend eating family style so that you get to taste many different dishes. We started with the fresh spring rolls. The sauce was a (somewhat) sweet peanut sauce.... More

A very original menu featuring specialities from Cambodia and Thailand awaits you, replete with unusual flavour combinations. I had the Bassac where tomatoes meet pineapple in a wonderfully sweet and sour melange. The four different dishes around the table met with enthousiastic response, most notably the General Tao’s chicken, often overly sweet but here aromatic aplenty. The formula is a... More

While the restaurant appeared clean and popular, we only did take out so cannot comment on service, etc. However, our family of 6 did try 6 different meals, and all if them were very good. Le Thai was tasty, and while I thought it could have used more spice, my sister-in-law thought it was the best of the 6 meals,... More

What as gastronomic experience. These folks have the Thai food experience down pat - right from the initial greeting and offering to open your "bring your own wine" arrangement to the taste and texture of the food. We are from Vancouver Island, BC and eat a fair bit of Thai food there and Vancouver, BC. Bati Bassak is well worth... More
