With a phone number 522-GRAS (522-FAT!) you might be alarmed, but don't be. This is poutine heaven! They also serve burgers, hot dogs & smoked meats! We were there for the poutine! It was really good (but we aren't experts on that). The inside was packed and most everyone was enjoying that one particular French Canadian specialty. And for those... More

Best poutine. I just had the traditional poutine, with cheese curds and gravy. It was really good. Ejoy!

So my review is, like, two years late -- but better late than never, as the cliche goes. Well, Snack Bar St-Jean definitely is not a cliche of a resto. Here's my brief tale of how I stumbled upon this snug yet underrated eatery after a starry-nighted trek: One afternoon in mid-March 2015, after schlepping all through the snow and... More

Wow GoGoBoots_2010!! What a review! That's definately the most descriptive review we've ever gotten. Thank you so much for taking the time to write about us (even after all this time)! We take a lot of pride in all our ingrédients and menu items but our hand-cut-every-single-day-fries-from-local-potatoes are something we're extremely proud of. Thank you for taking notice! We hope... More

We visited the city from Toronto and we can confirm that this is the best poutine in Quebec City by far, after testing out a few places. Their fries are not plain - they are delicious. The cheese curds are thick and amazing. We tried the hot dog poutine (poutine avec saucisse). I only wish we had something like this... More

Made the trek from old city to the snack bar.... Almost walked passed it, as it isn't much to look at from the outside.... It is exactly what a snack bar should be, wooden tables and big wood blocks for stools. You line up and order your food then sit and wait for it... The thing is the food is... More

Hi casey220!! I'm so glad you got to try our sugar pie!!! Most people skip it 'cause they're too full after having our poutine... but it really is addictive! Thank you for the great review, we truly are lucky to have wonderful customers like you! Despina More

Never had poutine? Head to the Snack bar. They are reasonably priced and have a large selection of poutine and other foods as well such as hamburgers and sandwiches. They are open until 5am so you have plenty of time to try it.

I wanted to try poutine during my visit to Canada, so I googled "Best Poutine in Quebec City" and this place showed up in a few different articles. The servers were SO nice. The poutine was hot and fresh and delicious. We also ordered sugar pie, which was YUMMY! I recommend both, and I will come here again on my... More

I came here late at night after hanging out with my friends on Aug 22, 2016. I tried the regular poutine flavour, the Italian flavour and the poutine with bacon.... As we stopped off to visit the old Quebec City on our way home to Ontario, my son-in-law wanted some original and authentic poutine. He discovered the top ten establishments in Quebec and the Snack Bar was one of them. So we walked from the old city to the upper part for this treat. My daughter and son-in-law shared the... More
